Health Insurance

Published

Hi I'm looking for information on the school of nursing at UAH in Huntsville Al. I will be applying for their nursing program this summer for spring entry. I wanted to know does anyone currently attend the program and can give me insight on the topic of health insurance. Does UAH require nursing students to a health insurance? If so, do they offer one or do you have to obtain it on your own?

Thx ;)

I'm not sure about UAH but I would think they would require you to have health insurance. I know Jeff State in Birmingham does. They did not provide heal insurance but they did provide the we are required to have.

I didn't go there, but I think most, if not all, nursing schools require health insurance. Most times you can get it through the school pretty cheap. You should be able to contact the advisor at that school and ask!

All colleges require fulltime students to carry insurance so it isn't just limited to Nursing. I used to have my schools insurance it was about 2,000 for the year and it didn't cover much (it was basically disaster insurance). But check with the school there should be information on their website about the type of insurance and its coverage.

It really depends on the school. I know ours doesn't require it. If you don't want to carry it, then you just have to sign a waiver.

It really depends on the school. My school does not require it, but if you do not have it you may not be able to attend clinical a in certain facilities. If you can not afford it I recommend looking it Medicaid. Also our local hospital offers Health care to those who are uninsured or under insures and payment is based on a scale, so I would also check to see if something like that is available.

Regardless of if your school requires it, shortly it is going to be a federal mandate for all individuals to have health insurance coverage.

Most schools require health insurance on full time students. Maybe not all, but most. Good luck.
