I can top all of you.

45 minutes.

Very long story made short: I signed up with Manpower during a summer vacation, and the job they sent me on was not what they told me it was.

As a pharmacist? 5 weeks, although I considered not coming back after lunch my first day, and in retrospect should have obeyed my gut feeling.

I left my first job out of school at the end of my 90 probationary period. I was green as a nurse and this was in the ER of Charity Hospital in pre Katrina New Orleans, which I believe was the murder capital of the country at the time. And I just simply wasn't ready. I feel like now I could handle it but at 20 years old fresh out of school, I just couldn't handle it.

Let go by the Border Patrol after 3 days of training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Facility in Glynco, Georgia. I swear, I did not know that gun was loaded! Just kidding. Turned out that I had a Secret Service File. A couple of years before Hillary Clinton had called me a butthole at a rally and one of her Secret Service detail asked me for my ID. He wrote down my name and ran it later. When this is done, a file is automatically created.

Come on, she called you more than a butthole, right? Dish!!!

Her exact words were, "There is that a**hole again." We had been following her "Healthcare Express" all across Texas towing a wrecked bus painted to look exactly like hers. Our bus even showed up briefly on CNN.

I left a travel position on about my 2nd week because the charge nurse was psycho, very difficult to get along with. I should have known when she had so much trouble giving me a schedule because it would cut into her overtime. Actually, almost every employee there was inhospitable. I have done other travels and had no such problem.

I quite my first nursing job after 2 weeks. I was in an nurse extern program at a local hospital in PCU. My preceptor told me she hated precepting people and she made all kinds of short cuts that, as a new nurse, confused me. I asked our nurse manager to change my preceptor and stated my reasons why. The NM sat us both down and wanted to know why we didn't get along. I told her it wasn't a personality conflict it was a issue of this nurse not showing me how things are done because she doesn't like doing it. THe other nurse agreed that this was not her forte. The NM refused to change the assigned preceptor and said that we would instead have weekly meetings to work on our relationship. I told her if that was how she ran her unit, I didn't want to work for her. Left and never looked back!

I saw a new nurse leave about 20 minutes after meeting her preceptor....and had I had that preceptor, I wouldn't have made the 20 minutes. That particular woman is possibly the meanest, nastiest, most "mad at the world" person I have ever met. Just the right skillset for a preceptor, right? Well, in her case, it pays to be the NM's cousin.

I quit a job after one week. I was in orientation (which was whole house...custodians, nurses, housekeeping, etc). The young woman next to me had hired on in housekeeping and she was about 6 months pregnant. The training room had the heat turned off and it was winter. The woman had circumoral bluing and she was shivering. I went to the front of the room and turned the heat on. The trainer came in 5 minutes later and demanded to know who had dared to touch the heat. I pulled her aside and told her I was leaving but that I'd call OSHA on my way out. They wrote me an apology and paid me 2 weeks vacation.

I lasted one day at a FotoMat. The locals played chicken with the booth. You had to go to the bathroom at a local furniture store. You also had to answer the phone:"This is your Fotomate!". Ah the 70's...good times.

I left first nursing job in CCU after 10 weeks - preceptor was a psycho (literally) who had stopped taking her meds. Almost left nursing because of her...but decided to try a position at a different hospital. Had new position in 1 week after quitting the CCU.

my first NP position I quit after 4 months due to poor working conditions and lousy pay. Already had a new job offer when I gave 4 weeks notice (as required). They "let me go" 1 week after I gave my notice. New FNP position pays almost twice as much salary with great working conditions! Have to say that both times when I left a bad workplace it was a VERY good move!

5 weeks. Was hired for 12 hour day/night rotation. First schedule was posted with me on straight 3-11, 5 shifts a week. With an 1h15min one-way drive 5 times a week there was little time for a life. When I complained I was told "take it or leave it". So I left. It has had no effect on my job searches since then.
