You're right, indigogirl. The commentator said (I think) that if the mutation became prevelent, the vaccine would not have rendered an immune reaction to it......

I'm wondering if an immune globulin providing antibodies (passive immunity) could be given those who become ill with the mutation, to stop the viral activity higher than it would otherwise be, stopping the development of pleural effusion lower down, and before irreversable damage occurred.

I'd wondered why H1N1 had such a fast, profound effect on some people and not others, until I read that antibodies higher in the resp. tree could stop the downward progression of the pathological reponse to the virus. It's a matter of some having a rapid response of antibody formation, while others had a slower response to the virus, I guess.:thnkg:

My son had the H1N1 mist, two weeks later he has developed a movement disorder, it is a twitching and shaking in his extremities. We have been told by someone in the pharmeceutical industry that this very well could be a reaction. Has anyone heard of anything like this. We have been in the hospital twice, he has had an MRI will have an EEG and numerous blood tests. Any info is welcome

I'm so sorry that your son is having this problem; and that it's thought to be a reaction to having the H1N1 vaccine. I hope you have a good neurologist caring for him. To respond to your question, I haven't heard of other possible similar situations following the administration of the vaccine. My prayers are with him, and you and your family for his speedy recovery. Please let us know how he's doing, and if any change in his condition occurs. :redbeathe

I got the H1N1 shot 5 days ago. My arm was sore for 2 days. I had a slight intermediate discomfort in my neck for 3-4 days- felt like nerve pain. Developed a headache that lasted 24 hours Saturday- this could have been sinus.

No major problems.

Marydjoseph, sorry to hear about your son. Hope he makes a speedy recovery and everyting returns back to normal soon.

Got mine yesterday. Some pain/soreness in arm about an hour after the shot, lasting a couple hours. This morning, some very mild discomfort on and off, like a mild throbbing, but not bad at all. I am much more tired than normal, and I did get a normal night's sleep. No other issues, and am thankful that I got it finally.

Got my shot about 4 weeks ago and no reactions at all. My kids (24,16,14) got theirs about 3 weeks ago and no reactions there either. My youngest two had already had a bout of H1N1 but not confirmed by PCR testing so we went ahead with shots just to be extra sure

Tomorrow it will be 3 weeks, I believe, since I had mine and no reaction. I had a small bruise at the injection site and maybe it was a little itchy. That was it.

I've never had a reaction to any flu shot. I get one every year. However, this year, ~ 1 - 2 months after each shot, I've noticed that the exact locations of each flu shot are now de-pigmented. I've got two areas of de-pigmentation about the size of a nickel where I got the H1N1 shot and regular flu shot.

???

Yeah, but it wasn't a huge deal. I had pain radiating up my neck and down my ribcage on the side I got the shot. I took a nap, and it was fine. Our school clinic was staffed by med students, so I think poor technique was more to blame- one of my classmates had a vial break on her because the med student was doing it wrong.

With the seasonal shot I have tenderness for a few days, and with the H1N1 after the initial pain went away I had no soreness or tenderness.

Had the H1N1 injection on 12/30..hurt less than my seasonal one did and I only had a slightly sore arm afterward.

I had the h1n1 and flu shot.I was sick for about 2-3 days.

Intense body aches, fever, chills, gi upset...NO PICNIC

I'm glad it's over

Caffeineaddict:

I'm so sorry that you were incubating some bug that brought the symptoms you described, to bear right after your immunization against H1N1. I really haven't a doubt, because of statistics and this "thread", that the vaccine DID NOT CAUSE them. Coincidence is what brought forth the thought that "the exception proves the rule".

You have my best wishes for a speedy recovery! :nurse:
