Hauling Nursing Things

Published

Hi everyone how are you guy doing :) ?

Fine I hope.

Please help me! All of my things are coming out of my bookbag. The worst part is yet to come :uhoh3: . Right now, I have two classes which has two books each, two notebooks each, rings of notecards, folders, and pens, paper and etc. Next semeter it will be four classes and more stuff. With clinicals things and books, my poor arm is going to fall off :chuckle . What do you use for comfort and space?

Please help, how do you guys carry all that stuff to school?

Any Opinions, advice, anything to help is welcome.

Thanks :)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :p Thanks for the laugh, Paint!

Your local mountaineering/hiking outfitters should be able to tell you where you can hire a trained Llama. Llamas are very good at carrying big, heavy loads, and stairwells are no problem for them, as they are used to climbing up and down rocky mountain passes. The only downside to a Llama, is that they tend to cause quite a stir in the classroom, and are also not very well house-trained (carry a shovel). An alternative is to hire a human sherpa - however, these are a lot more pricey than Llamas, but have the advantage of not pooping all over the place. :rotfl:

Seriously - I think the rolling suitcase is the only way to go!

Best wishes, Paint.

The deeper into my program I get, the less I bring to class.

Good for a chuckle..(Yes, its all true) :rotfl:

Here's what I brought to class...

Semester one- All carried inside my rolling backpack...

week one- 10lb fundamentals of nursing book, Pharmacology textbook, syllabus, pencil case filled with tons of pens and pencils, 4 highlighters, stapler, binder (with previous notes),notebook, tape recorder, 4 blank cassette tapes, headset (for labs), medical dictionary, workbook, index cards, lunch, and bottle of soda.

Words of wisdom here...Do not put a bottle of soda inside of your backpack, it is sure to leak and ruin at least one textbook. :crying2: Bottled water at least dries clear. I learned the hard way.

Week two- still carried everything except fundamentals book.

Week three- notebook, stapler, tape recorder, 3 blank tapes, 6 pens, 3 highlighters, lunch, and WATER.

Semester 2

Still using rolling backpack.

I brought my notebook, tape recorder, two tapes, and lunch, and bottle of water.

Semester 3

Backpack now sits in car with everything inside. All I take to class is a notebook, two pens, one highlighter, bottle of water. Occasionally, I still bring the tape recorder. It depends on how sleepy I am and who is lecturing.

Semester 4

I brought one pen, one highligher, one sheet of paper (once and a while I took the notebook), and a dollar for a bottle of water.

Next semester

Maybe I just bring the pen... :rotfl:

So I'm figuring you'll be walking into class nude in Term Six. :)

buy a nice bag with wheels

i see so many students dragging them.sometimes i feel i'm on an airport.

well depends also how much insecure you feel without textbooks.

do you use them while lecture is going on and your need to underline or something.well then you need them.

after 3 semesters i have limited myself to one notebook per class and a nice box of pencils and pens etc.

a folder with papers and dividers so that i keep notes seperate for each session.rather than doing weight lifting,i spend 1/2 hour filing my papers in respiective files and folders after coming home.

you rather make space for a healthy snack.

you can always ask if the school has lockers.

get rid of that extra burden. :)

"we can always live with less." :balloons:

Rent a locker at school. They're usually cheap and you will only have to haul the books from the car to the school and back.

Of course the bad thing about rolling backpacks is stairs. I drag mine up stairs if it's just two or three, and the back side of it is ripped up really badly from that. Also if you need a rolling backpack... or suitcase... look at the wheels. Get one with solid wheels that resemble rollerblade wheels, not little cheap plastic wheels. My first backpack's wheels broke in half, on a day when I had about 35 pounds of crap stuffed in it, and a quarter mile away from my car. I may as well have been dragging a cinderblock on a rope.

I like the one I have now, it's an american tourister. It cost thirty bucks but is not showing any signs of wheel failure.

A rolling backpack!!!!

I keep everything in a milk crate in my trunk. For the classes where the teachers lectures straight out of the book, I bring in the book with a highlighter.

I have a binder for the other classes and I bring a pen. I can always grab my book during break should I need it!

And, if I have a few minutes to wait for something (like a doctors appointment) my books are close by!

Good Luck!

I hear ya. Our books are huge - I literally am running out of space in my house to store them all! I rarely bring all of my books with me, but when I do, I try to take the bare essentials. I have a really good backpack from Eddie Bauer that has two compartments and holds a lot. Those roller backpacks aren't a bad idea - but I'd try to bring as few books as you can! It'll save your back.
