has anyone ever took medical terminology?how hard was the class?and how helpful is medical terminology as far as going to school for nursing?becuase at my school its not required to take it for nursing but is required for medical transcriptionist.

If you have room in your schedule and you don't have previous healthcare experience, I think you'll find it to be helpful. One of the tricks is learning the Latin-based roots that make up medical terms. Once you do that, it's not nearly so bad.

It might be one of your easier classes since it is mostly memorization. Think of spelling/vocabulary class back in grammar school. In agreement with Eric, the knowledge from the class has been very helpful.

I took it online last fall. It was really interesting and I learned a lot. I expect it will help me immensely when I start nursing school in August. It isn't required for my program, but it is recommended.

"has anyone ever taken medical terminology?"

yep, i did . . . . it helped.

I'm taking it online this summer. It's not required for my programs but I think it will be very helpful, especially as I have no healthcare experience. And I'm a word nut so I'm looking forward to it, even!

I just took an online class this spring. I don't have any experience in healthcare, so I took it for both nursing school and better marketability for getting a hospital job. I know a lot more that I did before!

I took it last semester and found it to be extremely interesting and beneficia. I am in my 1st semester of nursing school, and find it beneficial that I know what most of the medical words mean, while many of my classmates have to keep on looking them up. :)

Medical Terminology I & II was very helpful for me, especially when I took Micro. and A & P I. I will be taking A & P II this fall, and expect it to be just as helpful. I was able to focus on certain study material, instead of all of it, because I already knew what certain words meant. I recommend it if you can take it; just a lot of memorization. Good luck:paw:

Hi I took Med Term I & II. Its a great class really easly, basically its like a vocab course. Med term will help you a lot in Anatomy i would strongly recommend you take it before anatomy so that you can keep up when the start lecture. I would recommend med term. hope this helps you and good luck.

I took a veterinary medical terminology class and found it very helpful when I started nursing. If you have the time and inclination I'd say go for it, if not you will be fine.

Im taking it this summer even though it isnt required for my program. However when I had a meeting with the program chair she said it would be very beneficial if I could take it. Hopefully it will help me when I start nursing classes in the fall!
