Nurse's day is Wednesday.

Are they doing anything for you where you work ? :balloons:

As far as I know, we are getting nothing. Wouldn't surprise me. LOL. But secretaries sure did get NICE gift baskets on secretary's day!

I recalled last year we received some concoction that was supposed to be Strawberry Shortcake. That was it. At least the CNAs got a party for National Nursing Home week. It lets ya know how special the nurses are at my workplace

Our hospital gives out great things for nurses week. Last year we got watches that would secure onto the name tag(not cheap ones) or stethescope that you could use for vital signs, a cook book put together by nurses of their favorite recipes, a hospital T-shirt in your correct size, a kalidescope(sp) and engraved for our unit, and a bunch of other little items. I had just started with this hospital last year right before nurses week and they still gave me the loot. It was the best recognition I had ever recieved in my 26 years of nursing!! I can't wait to see what they give this year. :p

Happy Nurses Week!

We're getting free pizza on Thursday night, that's all I care about. :)

HAPPY NURSES WEEK. I am so glad that I recently found this site. They are doing some things where I work, but only for the weekday day nurses. If you work Baylor as I do or nights , well, we kind of get forgotten. Anyway, I hope everyone else has a good one.

For us (New Brunswick, Canada) Nurses week is next week. We take it upon ourselves to have a big party every year...supper, band, dancing and lots to drink!! A good time is had by all. Or at least we think we all had a good time (from what we can remember!) LOL

We are having a reception with food...it was really good last year and all the head nurses and directors supplied the desserts :)

And as an extra special treat...we get to have the department of health inspection this week....Happy Nurse's Week LOL

:nurse: here's to us !!! :nurse: wine_gourmet_small.jpg

Happy Nurses Week ..... our hospital is celebrating by increasing our census drastically, understaffing grossly, introducing a new pharmacy computer system that is NOT GOING WELL, and over booking the OR!!! We must be having receptions in the ED as well -- because it is overflowing.

Actually, we are having 3 receptions for our staff nurses on Thursday -- one at 7A- 8:30A, one at 2P-4P, one at 10P-12P. As managers, we all got to gether and purchased mega subs, chips and punch. The hospital is supplying a cake and will be giving out a pretty neat watch (WHEN THEY COME IN BACK ORDER). Our hospital is in the process of a merger -- so this will be our last year as a single entity -- so, we are hoping to make a big deal out of stuff this year. There is a comedian coming in for an evening next week too -- so they are doing a decent job celebrating.:balloons: :)

We get free lunch in the cafeteria, usually some sort of nursing pin. Do other facilities have a popularity contest- "nurse of the year"- that sort of thing?(very poor for morale). The CNA's are ignored entirely, although no one works harder than them. Last year administrstion went around with a dessert cart and everyone helped themselves, but when the aids selected theirs, they were told to "put the dessert back, it's only for nurses." It was very uncomfortable and humiliating for those poor girls. However, we nurses all put our desserts back, too. How cruel to hurt feelings over a stupid piece of cake!
