Happy Nurse's Week

Happy Nurses Week to Everyone! :balloons: :) :) :)

Actually this year nurses day is on Thursday as the 5th is already another holiday. Happy Cinco de Mayo.

rj:rolleyes:

I will find out tomorrow (I'm off today), if they are doing anything for us.

I work for a newly formed, private clinic. I'm very curious to see if they will drop the ball or not.

In every place I've worked, moral really falls if employers do not do anything for Nurses' Day.

The social workers got flowers on their day. We'll see what happens.

I am sure the cheesy gifts will be in plentiful supply, as always. Happy Nurses' Day everyone!

Just called my place of employment....local hospital....no one seems to know if there is anything going on for us or not....so...called the Nursing Education staff and they were wondering the same thing...they thought "someone" would probably think of something later this week....

I thought.........hmmmmm!

Each nurse gets a gift. Next week is Hospital week, so we will have a BBQ in the courtyard for all employees. Everyone, including nurses, get a little gift then, too. We also have a program to recognize all employees who do something extraordinary, especially in customer service. That program gets accolades and a cafeteria gift certificate.

About 4-6 weeks ago my facility sent out a notice asking for ideas (themes, food, etc.) for National Nursing Week. If your idea was used, you received a gift card for the local supermarket. Found out today that each day next week will be something different. One day will be a Sports theme (wearing of baseball, NASCAR, ??? shirts, hats, ???) with burgers and hotdogs; one day is a Western theme, with a BBQ; one day is dressing as a TV character (Lucy, Fonz, ???). Anyone who wears clothing of that theme day, his/her name will be put in a drawing for a supermarket gift card, theatre tickets, sub shop, ....) Forgot what the other two days will be. Somewhere during the week is a free breakfast, make your own sub sandwich make your own ice cream sundae.

This is my first year as a Director of Nursing and I got my nurses a gift certificate to the local uniform shop and am catering a luncheon for them. I went to a lot of trouble to plan it and one of them turned up her nose and said "is it mandatory that I come??" How rude and ungrateful. I understand that this has never been done for them at my facility though. They usually get the usual cheesy, crappy gifts but I wanted to give them something more practical that they would actually use. Wasn't really sure what to do and this idea is probably not original but all I could come up with. Oh well, beats nothing I guess. Anyway, Happy Nurses Week!!!

As far as I know, we are getting nothing. Wouldn't surprise me. LOL. But secretaries sure did get NICE gift baskets on secretary's day!
