Sick of it!!!
You don't need a BSN to teach a cna course. You can be an lpn or an rn to teach a cna course. I bet you would be an awesome CNA instructor. Go for it.

medicare charting and documentation
Here is an example of my Medicare charting on 3-11 shift and 11-7 shift 7/26/05 2200 vs 120/80, 98.6, 70, 20. Resting quietly @ this time. Consumed 100% of meal and 480 cc of fluids per self. No c/o pain or discomfort voiced. No c/o dizziness, headache, or blurred vision voiced r/t htn. No s/s of diabetic crisis noted. BG @ 5 was 150. BG @ 9 was 160. No adverse reaction noted r/t ABT for UTI. No c/o dysuria or foul odor noted. Extra fluids offered throughout shift. No s/s of acute distress. On the 11-7 shift i chart whether they are sleeping or awake, any complaints of pain and whether or not the person is in acute distress. I hope this helps. Narrative charting is soooo redundant

All You Lefty's Out there....
I am a lefty also. I recall a time in LPN school when we were practicing putting on gloves using sterile technique and one of the snooty girls in my class tried to point out to me that i was putting the gloves on wrong because i was starting with my left hand. She looked stupid when i told her that i was left handed and the nursing instructor told her to mind her own business. That was so funny.

Salary to expect as a new grad nurse
In southern Mississippi, a new grad's starting salary is $17/hr plus $2-3 shift diff for evenings or nights. An LPN working in LTC makes about that much. I work with one that makes over $20/hr. Where in Mississippi do you live? Maybe I need to move :chuckle

A message to new grads: NEVER....
- Hello - What state are you from?
I live in Southern Mississippi- Mobile, AL
There are quite a few hospitals in Mobile. The three that I can think of off the top of my head are Mobile Infirmary, Providence Hospital and University of South Alabama Medical Center. They offer great benefits. I am thinking about crossing the Alabama-Mississippi state line to work over there. There are hardly any good jobs in Mississippi- online CNA course
why spend thousands of dollars for a CNA course when you can go to a nursing home and get certified there? It made plenty of sense to me when my friend discouraged me from going to school to become a CNA. I went to the nursing home and enrolled in that program and received my certification 4 months later. Plus you can make money while you are learning your skills- Nurses, Will you work OT for straight pay?
Sometimes I wonder am I getting paid straight time for overtime work. For example, I worked a total of 105 hours and my hours were broken down like this: 96 hours regular, 9 hours overtime. This is an example of how we get paid overtime at my workplace. Is this legal? I would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has knowledge of overtime laws. Thank you- Top 5 medicine to pass in LTC?
My top 5 meds are.................(drum roll please) 1. Lortab 2. Xanax 3. Senokot/colace 4. Robitussin 5. Extra Strength Tylenol- Do You Have Any Favorite OB Myths?
Has anyone heard about the relationship between a woman's orgasm and the sex of a baby? I heard that if a woman orgasms at the same time the man does, the child will be a boy. If the woman does not have an orgasm, the child will be a girl. I must admit, there must be some truth to this. I won't go into details, but if my experiences with my dh indicate any truth to this myth, then I would be a rich woman. Why pay thousands of dollars to go to a doctor for sex selection, when I can tell you the tricks of the trade for just $19.99 + shipping and handling :rotfl:- $12 an hour?!
I live in Mississippi. My wages are $15.64 an hour, including a $1.00 shift differential. The cost of living here is kind of low, so I am able to make a decent living. Go to http://www.salary.com and research the wages for an lpn in your hometown- New LPN troubled with CNA's
Well, where I work at, the CNAs usually gripe about the nurses' lack of work and the better pay the nurses receive. Most of the ones that are jealous would say "I don't know how so and so became an LPN." Or they would point out that we get paid too much money for not doing hardly anything. They think that we just pass out medicines. If they only knew what we really go through, then they would understand why we get compensated the way we do. Although in my opinion, neither CNAs or nurses get paid enough for what we do. - Hello - What state are you from?
