  1. Hello, My name is Michelle and I am presently a NP student. I am presently taking a course involving issues of advanced practice nursing. I have an assignment to complete that involves an interview of an advanced practice nurse. If you can assist me, I would be very appreciative. You can send a private message, the answers to the questions listed below: (please include your name and what state you practice in) There are many issues facing advanced practice nurses today. What are your thoughts regarding this? Is there a particular issue that you feel is of great importance? Why is this issue important to you? Do you think the issue is in the process of becoming resolved? Is there anything that you believe should be done to further resolve the issue? Thank you very much, Michelle
  2. Thanks for the responses. She has been sticking to a very bland diet and still experiences severe pain all the time, mostly RUQ, radiating to her back. She also has started to swell in her right side.
  3. I have an interesting question for you guys. My sister is 35 weeks into her pregnancy and about 2 weeks ago, her doctor discovered that she was full of gallstones. Her pain has increased in duration and intensity over the past few weeks. (she had been having these pains for 1 1/2 months now but it was overlooked by her ob/gyn) She is unable to eat very much because of the pain. She saw a surgeon who said that he could not remove them b/c it would be so difficult. He told her to take aleve, which did not help her at all. He suggested Lortab but she is a teacher so this is not an option. Her ob/gyn refuses to induce early. At this point they are leaving the decision up to her as to what to do. The pain is almost unbearable and I am worried about the possibility of rupture. What do you guys think about this? I don't want her to be in this pain yet I don't want her to have to face a risky surgery.
  4. I agree with the idea of anodyne therapy. I have seen the results- they are unbelievable. Check it out on the web site.
  5. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which programs are the best online program choices for FNP?

thanks so much for the info, guys. One more question about Mobile Infirmary. Do you find that you are getting good experience there? Is the staff helpful?

This is kind of off the topic but I'm curious to know a little about the city. Any idea how large it is? Did you ever work at USA? or do clinicals there? Positives and negatives about it? Also, my husband is applying to USA's accelerated BSN program. Are you familiar with it?
  8. I hope all the non-nurses can understand how physically and emotionally demanding the nursing field is. I can tell you as an RN with 3 years experience, it's not an easy profession. Nurses don't receive the respect that they should. Not to mention how underpaid and overworked they are.
  9. Congratulations! I'm sure you are thrilled. I am planning on applying to TCU in about one year. Do you know approximately how many students they accept? Also, I am also curious as to what types of questions they asked on the interview.

I will be relocating to the Mobile area in a few months and would like to know if anyone knows of hospitals in this area. I am looking for an ICU position, preferably a CVICU position.:)
  11. definitely speak to your manager. I have been a HH nurse for 2 1/2 years. I've learned that you need to speak up when you feel like you are drowning. Otherwise people think you are fine and continue to add work to your schedule. Stick it out for a while. It's definitely overwhelming at first. Once you are comfortable with the paperwork, you get it done a whole lot quicker. As for ICD-9 codes, yes, that will also come with time. I still have problems coding and need to ask for help. Try HH for a few more months and see if it doesn't get better. :)
  12. Just curious- My husband and I are planning to apply to crna school together in a few years. Do we have a better chance if applying at the same time?
