Gun Owning Nurses

Published

I know that gun ownership is a hot button issue but I was just wondering how you all feel about nurses being gun owners. I recently acquired a very nice hunting rifle that was handed down from my dad. None of the boys wanted it so I jumped at it since I had many happy memories of hunting and target shooting with my dad. It is a stunningly Beautiful Henry Golden Boy in perfect condition. I have not gone shooting in almost 30 years so I took it to the range and familiarized myself again with all aspects of the gun and how to clean and store it with a range master.

Someone at work asked me what I had done that weekend and I said I went shooting. She arched her eyebrows and said something guns weren't very nurse-like.

This is not a handgun - but a family heirloom. I doubt I'll ever shoot it off the range but I may give it to my son when he is a grown man.

guns aren't very nurse-like? What the hell is that supposed to mean... It's not like you're carrying a gun to work.

I am a strong believer that "nursing stereotypes" help hold us back as a profession. Oh, you want that lunch break your employer deducts from your paycheck? That's not nurse-like because we should sacrifice our time, health, and mjnimum of 2000 a year.

Well...I'm a nurse. I legally own firearms. So I'm not really bothered by the idea.

Deers are actually dangerous.

They've murdered many a motorcyclist or auto driver.

No kidding. I've seen firsthand what they can do to a car. I wasn't in it at the time, but my parents were...fortunately, they walked away with minimal injury. Both the deer and car were totaled.

And on a dark road in the middle of the countryside, you usually don't get to see that deer coming.

Remember folks, we have a duty to render aid, and our actions after any shooting will be highly scrutinized in court.

Ummm...if someone comes into my house uninvited and is trying to do harm to myself or my family, 911 will be called after the trigger is pulled.

"nurse-like" What does that even mean? Who cares if a nurse owns a gun?

It's not nurse-like to shoot deers? Those deers are dangerous!! :nailbiting:

I'm a nurse and a cc permit holder. I have no idea what that coworker means by nurse like. Most of my coworkers carry and we are all very nurse like in my opinion.

Well, I am a concealed-carry permit holding, handgun owning, democrat so I'd probably really make your co-worker's head spin.

I make my fathers head spin. I am a liberal, handgun owning (And I'm getting a Glock 42 for Christmas, I am so excited. I still love my Walther PK380 though), who will be getting her conceal cary permit as soon as I am able to go outside without wheezing. My Da loves to tell me that I am not allowed to own a gun because liberals don't like guns. My liberal sister also owns a gun.

I told you that if you bothered me on my break, there'd be a shot coming.

Is this question a joke? Are you an American? The problem is that most nurses are democrats......and that is an unfortunate fact as can be seen by the filthy ANA endorsing and the using of members $ to support a socialist-communist Bernie Sanders.

But, yes, owning a gun is VERY nurse-like......And who the hell cares if it's not? What is nurse-like to start with? I have never had a problem with wiping a butt on Friday and going to the range and shooting my AK, AR, 9mm, Shotgun, 22mm on Saturday.......

My husband and I own three handguns and I don't give a rip about anyone else's opinion of that. Don't let people dictate to you what your priorities are. Choose for yourself. Who cares what anyone thinks but you?

just got my handgun permit in the mail today!! it's a cold, mean world out there!! nurse or not i'm gonna protect myself!!

I am an RN...and a gun owner and have a concealed carry permit. In fact my Hubby, son and I are working in getting our NRA basic pistol instructorship. I belong to a couple of women's shooting groups and love it.

I will defend me and mine (and you if need be) without hesitation....and I figure if, God forbid, I may actually have to use my weapon, IF there is a need, I can treat the one I shoot.....
