GSU FALL 2010

Published

hi to all blson aspirants,

let me start by saying that i am a little bit nervous because fall 2010 applicants are the first that are required to take the teas test. i'm also a little bit excited to have come this far. i'm hoping to get accepted into the fall 2010 program.

i will be keeping in touch with this website as much as i can this semester. to all 2010 nursing school applicants, i sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

To be honest there was NO time to go on a worthwhile vacation in my opinion. We had one week off. Used to they got two weeks off and a break between the two summer classes. That is apparently no longer the case. We got the week after finals and started our first class (Peds) on May 17. We will start our second class June 21 with no break in between because every one has clinicals that last week of our class even though our final is on a Monday. We will end up with 3 weeks between our summer and Fall classes. I saw we don't start this fall until like August 23 or something.

Out of curiosity, what have you guys heard about the classes you'll be taking this fall? I'll tell you my thoughts on them :-)

So far the only thing I've heard is pharmacology is difficult and takes alot of reading and memorizing. Hey 3 weeks before fall isn't bad right?! ;) squeeze in a disney trip for those with kids who feel the guilt of lack of time to spend with them!

Ngl, I HATED pharm. Pages and pages of notes with these quizzes every day over the material you are going to cover in class. These quizzes actually ended up being really important for a ton of my classmates even though they were only worth about 5%. I love skills and assessment. You'll have two very entertaining ladies teaching you there. Patho wasn't bad once I figured out how to take the tests. Two ladies teach that as well: one is an RN and the other is an MD...gynocologist only now if I remember correctly. That mini-semester class is stupid but DO NOT blow off the tests. We had one guy fail the class and have to retake it. Foundations is B-O-R-I-N-G. At the time I did not like the instructor but then this past semester she was my clinical instructor for my Med-Surg rotation and ohmylord did my opinion change about her. She's really cool if you get to know her on a more personal level. I think that's all of the class. Please correct me if I am wrong :)

Has anyone mailed in their health forms, student agreements , documentation and fees (I am trying to avoid a drive but i cannot find an address on the letter that has multicolored leaves on it)? Also, I assume that I should hold off on sending in the ERI check?

Thanks for the help

No, have it all ready but waiting to hear about how to send the fees. I thought maybe the checklist form had the info on where to send it all??

For your fees, take the check or M.O. for your only to the office in Urban Life. I think it's room 900? We are no longer using ERI at Ga State. We just started as of this summer using ATI. You have to pay that fee online. At some point you will be given a code and directions on how to create an account, enter the code, and then pay your fees. I don't know if you are ACE or traditional but I will throw it out there the ATI was $75 and will be that much per semester from what they've told my group of A3s.

is anyone taking CPR at dekalb industrial way. Which class should I choose?

I ended up calling the school, and I was told that you can in fact mail in all the forms (good for me as the drive is quite long).

There is info on how to pay for the ATI tutorials as well as the codes needed. This can be found in the PINS resource. The deadline to make payments and turn in the forms is June 25. Also, orientation time has been changed to 10am-3pm. Good luck with all our preparations.

Hello All-

The wait list acceptances have begun! I was offered a spot a couple of days ago, and have to let GSU know my decision tomorrow. I'm not taking the spot (going elsewhere)--and was 1st on the wait list, so whoever is 2nd--expect a call soon :)

Good luck and enjoy the program!

klea,

i actually met a gsu student who also got her 'acceptance call' last week. she is trying to get all her neccesary paper work done as soon as possible...

good luck to you as well.

I'm sorry if this is off topic or not allowed but does anyone have a book for N2010 (lifespan dev) that I can borrow or buy? I need the 12th ed. for summer semester.

Please pm me with your contact info, I don't think I can send private msgs yet!

Thanks!
