GSU FALL 2010

Published

hi to all blson aspirants,

let me start by saying that i am a little bit nervous because fall 2010 applicants are the first that are required to take the teas test. i'm also a little bit excited to have come this far. i'm hoping to get accepted into the fall 2010 program.

i will be keeping in touch with this website as much as i can this semester. to all 2010 nursing school applicants, i sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

Where are you all getting your books from? I'm thinking about using chegg for a majority of the non-bundles. Does anyone know why patho requires 2 textbookss (one Pathophysiology by Burns and one essentials; seems like a bit of a waste :uhoh3:).

hi bellefemme!

wow, where did you see this information? did you purchase the access code already for nurs2160? i want to get started on this right away.

p.s

i'm sure we'll have a great and successful year. we just have to work hard!!! i know i'll be seeing the library a lot and joining study groups lol

hi bxny,

i haven't purchased the access code yet but according to info posted on the nursing resource link, it is possible to request a grace period once you click on the 2160 tab. next, click on the dosage calculation icon and select chapter 3. i tried these steps and it worked... i agree with you that we have to work hard.

hi fdlink085,

as much as i would love to purchase all my books out of pocket, i can't. luckily, we can rent some books from the gsu bookstore this semester (you will have to register at efollett.com). i will rent as much of the required books that i can. some students also advise that we keep some of our books for the nclex including the health assessment book... regardless, i will use my hope aid to buy most of the books. in regards to the pathophysiology book, i was informed that getting the workbook along with the textbook will give you an idea of what to expect on the patho tests. however, i am not sure if the essentials of patho is the same as the workbook...

thanks so much for the information!

Hi FdLink,

I bought almost all my textbooks from a nursing student. As far as the patho book, I only purchased Essentials of Patho ( the one with the floating RBC) because I was told that was the main text. Several students told me they never bought the other one nor did they ever borrow it from anyone. I figure that I would wait until we meet the professors or at least get the syllabus, to determine exactly which other books are necessary since some appear to be only supplemental guides.

Thanks bellefemme & BxNy

I still don't see an announcement for advanced reading - am I the only one who missed this? I followed the instructions bellefemme gave, but it seems odd going that route, as all chapters have "advanced preparation". I know the professor sent us all an email back in July and she didn't mention it either.

I guess it just seems odd to not have some type of announcement - did anyone see this and I just can't find it? Thanks for your help!

Hi Datl12345,

Yea, that's the same thing I thought. To me that entire folder, matter fact the entire course section looks like last semesters (even the syllabus says spring.) If anyone actually received an announcement I'd like to know also. But thanks again to BelleFemme for even letting me know this was posted because in all honesty, its probably an advanced preparation since those are the chapters we will be covering. I've already started!

WHat does everyone have lab/clinical?

ALso, I'm looking at the the uniform guidelines..and is a little confused..Are we supposed to wear our uniform on Aug 23 (first day of class) or only for lab/clinical.

Tchic, I think we only wear uniforms on lab/clinical day because I received an email from our N2160 instructor, Nancy DiFalco: "The remaining two attachments contain information regarding the purchase of the official GSU school of nursing uniform. These documents have already been made available to you from Angela Corley. I have included them in case you missed the prior message. "You are required to purchase at least one uniform top and one uniform bottom to wear in lab and in clinical. In this course, you will be in lab or clinical only one day per week. You will need other items such as a watch, shoes, stethoscope, and lab coat, but you are not required to purchase them from this supplier. If you have any questions regarding the fit or sizing of the uniform, please contact the supplier. Please read the "Uniform policy" in your School of Nursing Handbook for additional information."

Thanks for clearing that up fdlink! What day do you have lab/clinical?
