hi to all blson aspirants,
let me start by saying that i am a little bit nervous because fall 2010 applicants are the first that are required to take the teas test. i'm also a little bit excited to have come this far. i'm hoping to get accepted into the fall 2010 program.
i will be keeping in touch with this website as much as i can this semester. to all 2010 nursing school applicants, i sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
Hi Stx,
Things are good out in the real world. I love my job and the hospital I work at. During clinicals in nursing school, you're not always treated very well by the nurses. Try not to let it get to you. I'm glad that I don't have to deal with that anymore, or the studying and going to classes. Plus, it's nice to get a paycheck . Things are a lot different once you start working than how they teach you in school. I've learned so much since I started working the first of March, it's just amazing. Work hard and you'll do great. Let me know if you have any questions about the program, or anything else I might be able to answer!!
Jen
STXBSN - Which NURS 2010 are you taking? I'm in the TTh 8:00am section with Professor ............ Hope to meet you soon!JenRN30 - Thank you so much for your kind words. Now, I don't feel so anxious about loading up my summer semester!
Irs, definitely take as much as you can during the summer. You'll be glad you did! And .............. is great. You'll love her. Good luck!
hi everyone,i've been reading through your thread and just wanted to congratulate everyone on getting in! i graduated from the gsu accelerated program dec. 09 and am now working as an rn. i loved the program, even though first semester is pretty tough. you need to be flexible because things seem to pop up all the time. i would advise everyone to take the nutrition class in the summer. it will lessen the load of first semester. good luck to all of you. the 16 months flies by, and you'll make great friends.
take care,
jenrn30
thank you so much jenrn30 for your insight and advice. i would like to know if it you or any of your classmates worked partime (14 hrs)? thanks again.

hey bellefemme,
yes a few people worked and did fine. one girl had to work almost full time and had to drop down to the traditional program because it was just too much. it's going to be really tough first semester, especially the first half, but if you can get through that it will get much easier. i think you'll be fine. let me know if you have anymore questions.
hey - does anyone know what the code for paying our ati fee online is? i can't seem to find it, and i saw the announcement on ulearn stating we're supposed to pay online instead of sending a check to gsu.
hi datl12345,
i spoke with miss angela and she said that information regarding ati and eri fees would be sent in two weeks.
Hey guys,
I'm currently an A3 at Ga State. So to all you ACE'ers congrats! It's going to be stressful, I won't lie, but the people you'll get to be friends with are amazing! I echo JenRN (she's a great info source, answered many of my questions!) when she says some nurses in the clinical setting are not so fun. My advice in that area is just BE OUTGOING and willing to do whatever you can. Just this past semester, due to a rather crappy situation I got to spend a whole clinical day in the ER at my med-surg clinical instead of observing in the OR. I jumped right in with the nurse I was assigned, asking what I could do, what I could get, what they needed extra hands doing. The nurses loved it. It really helps, at least I think it does, to do this. Even some of the not so fun nurses have lightened up and been much nicer to me and open about teaching me when I showed a willingness to do ANYTHING. Anyways, try not to freak out the first semester. I am honest when I say it's a doozy. You will survive. The semester will fly by! Maybe see you guys around campus what little bit I'll be there!
My first semester (last fall) I had class Monday and Wednesday with my lab/clinical day being Thursday. We all had Tuesday off. Those with Friday lab/clinical days had Thursday off as well and those with Thursday lab/clinical day had Friday off. If anyone has any other questions please just ask! I have discovered a few small things (such as how the classes are run in the summer as of this year) are slightly different from how Jen told me they were for her!
