hi to all blson aspirants,
let me start by saying that i am a little bit nervous because fall 2010 applicants are the first that are required to take the teas test. i'm also a little bit excited to have come this far. i'm hoping to get accepted into the fall 2010 program.
i will be keeping in touch with this website as much as i can this semester. to all 2010 nursing school applicants, i sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
has anyone else here been wait listed? or know if there's a chance that i could still get in?
geauxtigers404,
i know someone who is on the waiting list and she was informed that she could be accepted a week before classes start in august. i guess the chances of getting in will be if an accepted student drops out of the program before classes start. i am not certain but i wish you all the best.
i thought i should let you all know that you could reduce your fall work load by taking nutr 3300 in the summer. according to some of the people i spoke to, nutr 3200 isn't difficult. however, it is time consuming. nutr 3300 will be substituted for nutr 3200. it is also availaible as an online class this summer.
have you all seen the new resource link that has been posted on ulearn? it has a link to the website where we can purchase uniforms and other items. http://www.meridys.com
do we have to buy some of the other items like the aneroid? i'm still trying to figure out what the difference between a littman ii and littman iii stethoscope is. obviously the price range is between $61-$169 but can i make better assessments with one over the other? hopefully, i can stick to a $400 budget for the supplies. lol! i'll look up posts on stethoscopes.
to all students taking their finals, good luck!
The list of courses is on the acceptance letter you received. Says something like "Congrats for getting in, you'll be registering for the following courses:...". I won't be taking the NUTR class over the summer, I'm going to enjoy my last free summer that I'll have for a while vacationing and visiting family . Then it'll be nothing but school, school, school for a while (followed by work, work, work!).
I've been working on the long "to do" list and I'm happy to say all I've got left are submitting my drug screen sample (which I will do tomorrow at my local LabCorp), getting the last 2 Hepatitis shots, and attending the CPR class I booked. By the way, that online blood borne pathogen module we had to do was easy.. nothing to stress over, and you can print out your very own cute little certificate of completion when you're done . My box of "supplies" came in yesterday with my uniform (2 pairs), stethoscope, and shoes
! Very exciting!
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know my classmates soon!
ATLBubbles,
Glad to hear you are almost done with the prep list. Im not sure yet if I'll take the NUTR class over the summer either. Id like to try and work as much as possible during the summer to bolster my savings account.
I do have a question about our supplies. Do we need everyting that pops up on the Meridy's website? Is there a list of essential or 'must have' supplies? Also, which stethoscope did you get and is one recommended over the other??
Looking forward to meeting you soon.
Feel free to PM if youd like to chat!,
There's an attachment to the email the coordinator sent all of us indicating what we need for the program. Even tells you which things you need that you can get elsewhere other than meridys if you want. I got the littman classic II... Middle of the line stethoscope after reading some previous posts about it on here.
I just finished the Nutrition class (took it this Spring semester). Very easy class, not much to it - 2 exams, and 5 papers. I'd recommend anyone who's thinking about it to get it out of the way before Fall, if possible. While it was easy, the papers were roughly 5 pages each, so it takes a little time. I was told from those who went through the program that anything we can do to reduce that first semester workload is worth it.
Also, it's an online class, so it won't interfere with enjoying the summer, family, work schedules, etc....
