I hate when teachers tell me, the student told them they were throwing up yesterday, or fever yesterday, or diarrhea yesterday.....
That was yesterday, I have no proof, and right now said student has none of the above.
Leave me alone!
Or this......They have been out for the last 2 days and I think they shouldn't be here because they look pale. Well Hello !!!!! They have to come back sometime. Leave them alone. Let's see how they do. You shouldn't assume that they are still sick unless they show you something that makes them seem sick. Germaphobes...get on my last nerve !!
Teachers and kids alike thing this statement is going to make me think they need to go home. My usual answer is "you have already been out ____ days, even more important we need to keep you here today so that you won't be any further behind."
I have to say most of my teachers are pretty good. If they send a student to me, and I send them back to class, they usually don't question it. The problem I have had lately is substitute teachers, either they are sending students for every thing, or are coming to the clinic and questioning my assessment. Just today, I had two substitutes question weather two different students should be back in class. Well, yes they should, they have no fever, no n/v and no symptoms. One substitute was trying to conduct her own neuro exam. Substitute teacher nursing assessment...love it!
I can't love this threat enough. They are all so paranoid. Kids will get sick. if you don't want to be exposed to illness, don't work in a school!
I hate when teachers tell students "ohhhh you don't look good!" Many times the child is just tired, like the rest of us.
Or: "my teacher says I have a fever. She felt my head."
I love how they feel the forehead with the wrong side of their hand too! Dorsal side people, dorsal side!! But really, we do have these new fangled things call thermometers.........
And the sending them in the middle of lunch for silly stuff is my biggest pet peeve. Unless they blow chunks on their sandwich or choke on it, let them finish and then see me PUUUULLLLEEEAAAZZZEEE! So now, I have a kid with a 2 day old sore thumb and he is hungry because he is missing lunch. Thanks a lot people!!

I work urgent care and many visits are these kids with same complaints of yesterday threw up/had diarrhea/felt warm so mom brings them in the next day for urgent care check when they have no symptoms but oh yeah, we need school note because even though no symptoms, she did not send to school and they show up after 5pm to urgent care. Sometimes moms ask for school notes to cover the days before they came to urgent care. No, I don't know where your kid was or if they were sick/no proof those days. For the "felt warm" I document "Tactile Fever". Worse is the moms that bring along the siblings "just to make sure they are not sick". HMM, that's called a well child check if sibs are not showing symptoms.
I have a teacher JUST like that! 98.1 is a fever. One time she even lied about it. She took her own temp, said "oh, no! It's 99.0. That's really not good."
She didn't know I could hit the button and see the last temp recorded.
It was 98.2
BUSTED
LOL!!!! I love when they come in and act like they are waiting for me to tell them they have to call their mommies to come get them. Uggg, no!!!!

I love how every sniffle from their students warrants a quarantine but then they'll be hacking up a lung, tell me they had a fever of 102 the night before but they didn't want to take a day... Seriously?????
