I hate when teachers tell me, the student told them they were throwing up yesterday, or fever yesterday, or diarrhea yesterday.....
That was yesterday, I have no proof, and right now said student has none of the above.
Leave me alone!

If you acted on all that subjective information there'd only be about 12 kids in school each day.
Amen to that!

Or this......They have been out for the last 2 days and I think they shouldn't be here because they look pale. Well Hello !!!!! They have to come back sometime. Leave them alone. Let's see how they do. You shouldn't assume that they are still sick unless they show you something that makes them seem sick. Germaphobes...get on my last nerve !!
Yes yes yes!

I can't love this threat enough.
They are all so paranoid. Kids will get sick. if you don't want to be exposed to illness, don't work in a school!
I hate when teachers tell students "ohhhh you don't look good!" Many times the child is just tired, like the rest of us.
Or: "my teacher says I have a fever. She felt my head."

One of the lunch aides asked if she could get a temporal thermometer just so that she doesn't have to send kids to see me. She actually tries to stop kids from seeing me if they complain of a headache or stomachache before lunch.

The cafeteria aides drive me crazy with this. The kids come in during lunch - "miss *** said I feel warm." I regularly remind the cafeteria monitors to stop touching the kids but they just can't help it, I guess.
Chaps my rear end when they come to the clinic all packed up and ready to go home. They say "My teacher said you have to call my mom to come get me".....Haven't even assessed them. Trust me that I will call the teacher and give her "what for" when they do this.
Most of the time, the student is fine. Ugh !!!!!!!!!!!!

Same with us! Teachers should be teaching, not actively looking for kids they think are sick. Big problem at our school.

Very impressed with cafeteria aides who actually stop to think!!! I regularly get kids right before lunch with stomachache/headache. Uhh.... do ya think maybe you are hungry!?
I regularly get kids who LEAVE lunch for very minor things that could totally wait. The latest one came down from lunch for a "head check" cuz ya know she scratched her head 2 times. And she said she didn't finish eating lunch and they told her to throw her tray away. Grrrrr! Are you kidding me?
Also love when teachers use the forehead thermometer. LOVE when they diagnose and then tell me what to do about it. LOVE IT EVEN MORE when I say the kid is fine then send them back to class and 30 minutes later a panicked parent shows up to pick up their "sick" kid.
Here is my go-to joke:
"Well, one day I was walking home from work in my Wendy's uniform and when I walked by the school someone ran out and said "Hey! We need a school nurse. Want to come be our school nurse?"
I was all like "YEAH! That sounds like the best job ever!"
And I have been here ever since.
