I have emailed ABC a couple of times in the past after episodes I saw that got my goat. They never responded. On 1 show, McSteamy was telling a doctor who was getting decorations for a baby shower, "Keep it classy; this isn't a shower for some nurse who couldn't keep her legs together." On another show, a patient told Karev that he couldn't get his TV to work. Karev said, "well find a nurse". We know that in reality doctors could not function without us, and we have much more complex responsibilities than getting a TV to work. It's frustrating to know that millions of viewers get a different impression though. If you need to contact them, email them on ABCs website, but don't count on a response.
My mom has been going through the show recently and I haven't hated what I occasionally sit down to watch. Now a show I really loved but was cancelled after the first season because it was so dang expensive to film? Trauma
I liked Trauma a LOT.
Scrubs is my favorite recent show that did a great job of accuracy of nurses and our interactions with medical staff.
Nurse Jackie may be over the top, but does a good job of depicting situations that nurses can be very familiar with.
I didn't even know Grays Anatomy was still on; never really watched the show; when I watched at least some of the show, I felt it was unwatchable.
I watch Grey's once in a while, but know that it isn't based in reality. There are actually "nurses" in the show, they just are faceless, often just a voice. Their line is usually "yes doctor!" or "right away, doctor!". I always laugh about that, and joke with my coworkers about how we should start saying "right away, doctor" when they ask for something. You'll also notice the doctors are doing the interventions and tasks that nurses and others do in real hospitals. As surgeons, they also seem to be functioning as other types of physicians at times, such as pathologists, emergency physicians, radiologists, neonatologists, etc. It's all very amusing.
Perhaps you may be interested in reading this book:
It discusses the matter of nurses on these types of shows (including Grey's). There is also a website for the organization related to the book: The Truth About Nursing
Maybe you can contact them and ask what to do.

I am attempting to write a petition to Grey's Anatomy for a class I am taking but I cant find an actual address- has anyone done this and willing to share your thoughts on the absence of nurses in the show.
