Greatest Nursing Item You Ever Bought

Published

I was online today deciding which scrubs to buy and talking with my SIL who is in Nursing school... I was wondering what is the greatest, most helpful item you have every bought---nursing related.

Mine is Supportive Socks. I get home from a 12 hr shift and my legs aren't throbbing!!!

I am still looking for the best shoes though.

Grey's Anatomy scrub paints because the are soooooooo comfortable and soft! I'm also in love with dickies wide leg cargo pant that has pockest on both thighs. The pockets are great for scissors.

Danskos, clicky pens, a good stethoscope, and sharp trauma shears.

Also, I love my Davis Drug Guide on my PDA/phone. Very useful.

Crocs and a calculator watch!

Supplies: Trauma shears, waterproof stainless stell Bulova watch (ok, it has some diamonds too, lol) with second hand and date (I used to always label my blood with the wrong date!)

Scrubs: Iguana med, Urbane and Dickies

Shoes: the jury is still out, I am in the ER so I have to be on my feet nearly all day and walking VERY fast. I have crocs and some Nike shocks but I am still searching for the dream shoe. I tried on Danskos and felt like they were heavy like wooden Holland girl shoes. I like the look of them though.

My Palm Tx. Keeps me

  • organized -- calendar, alarm clock
  • aware -- I know how much I have in the bank with my checkbook program,
  • secure -- I save all my IDs and passowords to my encrypted ID program, so I don't forget any of the thousand signons I have at work & home,
  • amused -- I can get online and surf the web during downtime, and I have SD cards with my family photos on them
  • educated -- I have drug, lab & dx, and diseases programs so I can look up information that I need to know while I'm at work.

Oh, and one program lets me just write on the PDA and it saves the writing like a picture. Great for maps and jotting down phone numbers and meetings and all that stuff.

Here is what I love:

Shoes: danskos all the way. My feet and my back don't hurt anymore--at all!

Supplies: I picked up a $8 stethoscope holder that clips to my waistband so now I don't have my heavy cardio littman hanging around my freakin neck all day. I love this thing!! I love my littman cardio 3 scope as well. Oh ya and some hemostats, I use them when I can't get y'd in lines unstuck--I tend to tighten them too hard and then can't get them undone....lol

Scrubs: I am ALL about Iguana med or urbane.

Danskos are a must-have!
