Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Ok so I am a newborn compared to most of you in this program and was wondering.... the first 2 classes the DQs were worth 15 points each and this 3rd class, they are 5 or 3 points each! REALLY?? I mean to have to research the question and reference your answer does not seem worth the effort for 3 measly points.

I struggle with the DQs as well - especially in Statistics. There are many times I have to talk myself into making the post because it does seem like a giant waste of time. However, I would not forgive myself if I missed an A or B because I got lazy and decided not to post. I guess I would skip one if I had a really good excuse. There are people in my class who literally post everything on one day of the week - 2 DQs and 6 responses to posts! I wonder what kind of grades they get......

WOW!!! Tokmom, Prisim, & Noodles, I feel so much better. What an abundance of great info and advice. I am so happy I came back to this forum and found you all.

"Over thinkers" I always thought it was a good thing, then it would just get me into trouble over and over therefore making me question if I was even in the right field. It felt right but was I doing right? I would ask myself. I would double check and triple check until it consumes my time and mindset. Really, I thought I was the only one that felt this way.

HALLELUJAH!!! :singing: I am not as crazy as I thought.

I will diffidently use all of your wonderful information....I am good!:)

Thank you all once again!!

I usually did both dq on Monday and then responded to two people on Monday-Wednesday with a few scattered for extra cushion I found interesting.

JJ: the dq are worth all sorts off points from 3-20. You will have them in patho, but only one due on Friday. They are worth 20 points and they have multiple questions embedded in them.

LOL nurseConnie. Welcome to the ocd club!

My husband really thought I went off the deep end with my editing and checking my paper. I would even go back and look AFTER I submitted the paper! Like that does a lot of good, lol.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I could not imagine going through this class by myself

Ugh, those DQ's! I, too, thought it sucked to do all that work for 5 points :/

LOL funny story (well I thought it was funny). I hadn't yet realized in whatever that class was where the DQs were only worth 3 pts each until the end of week 2 when the grades came back. I looked at my points and I went, "WHAT? She only gave me 6 points? WTH?! I spent hours on those!" Then, duh, I realized it was 3/3 twice, thus 100%. Well, I was talking to my husband one night & with chest puffed out and hands on hips I said to him, "I'm not gonna do it. Nope. Not worth it. Not gonna" (you have to imagine the whiney so THERE voice that went along with my proclamation). He stood there in the kitchen with his mouth agape, eyeballs wide, and said, "What? YOU are not going to turn in an assignment? Did Hell just freeze over? Are you okay? Should I call 911? No way, you'll do it, I know you will, you won't be able to stand looking at that zero, I'll bet you 50 bucks you'll do it anyway". God I hate when he's right. I did it. And all the rest of them. &^$#@ :blackeye:

Ugh, I did all those DQ and received full points, though I know people that took a hit with their quality. I was thrilled to have those behind me in the capstone class. Then I remembered I still had to answer others DQ, UGH!!

Are you guys in the same class? :geek:

I don't think so I just started week 4 in this class, unless? Who knows. I do have a team that is working, quiet as church mice, but working. The chatty cathy (my doll as a child) in me is in a puddle, more talk means more work, right? lol
