Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

This Capstone Project is a LOT OF WORK! :wideyed: I am cranky today and don't feel like doing it. Got through the 1st week with A's now onto the 2nd week and I feel like I'm repeating stuff with this Literature Review which seems the same as the Selecting Sources of Literature assignment. I have 17 articles and none appear to be quantitative so I'm not sure how I'll answer the Topic 2 DQ 2. I still love this instructor though!

Congrats Noodles! You did everything you could to succeed and you have been rewarded:up:. I agree, the videos were wonderful but that darn teacher I had did not tell us about them at all and was the most minimally helpful teacher of them all. I found those by searching Google. I didn't do the tutoring, but it's great that you did.

My instructor did not mention them either. I found them myself by googling the class name and number.

That is how I have been approaching these projects. I just wish that if I already had enough points I could choose what to complete and what to ignore.

I picked bedside nursing shift report, in other words, I am looking for evidence that suggests that doing a bedside report is better than say, the hallway, conference room or recorded report. I found lots of stuff supporting it as a safety, communication and continuity of care tool. It's not perfect but it will do. The instructor said I did everything right including the PICO so I continued.

Are there specific tutors that you would recommend? Please PM me if so, my turn at tribal council starts in less than two weeks, I love ya all here, but I would not mind being voted off the island to get through stats like Noodles. :lol2: :cheeky: :)

That's too funny.

Howeverrrrr.... you get to go through the hellfire of stats and come out victorious! :)

Those two assignments are the devils spawn. I hated both and each took well over 12 hours of my time. The second one is just a bit more detailed than the first, but that's about it. Once you get them done, the rest of the paper falls into place. As for the repetitive, you will see it in all the papers. After I saw a pattern and sort of knew the layout of my paper, I would purposely leave a sentence or paragraph out that wasn't really needed and fit it in a later paper instead. It helped avoid some of the redundancy, but I'm a person of many words so culling out sentences and paragraphs still left me over the word count.

Isn't this professor amazing? I wish they were all like her. It was nice way to end the program.

Wow! I don't understand how they can do that!

The positive side of that failing students is that it lessens the naysayers who believe everyone passes because GCU is a for profit diploma mill. ;)

I HAD NO IDEA, NONE!!! 3 POINTS!!!!! I have been wasting hours on those things, hours I say!!! I just told my husband, he's like yeah, you didn't know?!!!! You have pride in what you do. Good for you.

I think I'm going to get tired of repeating stuff but yeah she is super nice and she is constantly trying to calm people down and tell them that there is nothing that can't be fixed. She is really fast at grading which is so great for this course because you have to have the graded papers to know where you should correct yourself. She had my three assignments graded the day after I turned them in.

I had to email my Trends & Issues instructor 3 times to get her to post my grades! She was supposed to have posted everything by this past Sunday and I emailed her today to tell her my week 5 assignment was not graded! Jeez, this lady was the slowest of them all! That was a frustrating class in more ways than one.

PurpleMyst - please PM me the name of your Trends instructor so I can be sure I don't get her. Slow instructors make me crazy! Thanks!
