Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Ahhh, I have been working so much that have been absent from everything that is going on here. Ugh, I hated that community class.

I like that adjective right now! Especially with this class....now just use it with community nursing diagnosis, specifically potential nursing diagnosis and that would be like putting a big ol' bow on it!!!! :crying2:

I credit 90% of my success in Statistics to the awesome online tutors. They saved my behind! Use them. They are FREE. You just have to make sure you sign up early. Time slots fill up quickly.

Are there specific tutors that you would recommend? Please PM me if so, my turn at tribal council starts in less than two weeks, I love ya all here, but I would not mind being voted off the island to get through stats like Noodles. :lol2: :cheeky: :)

LOL nurseConnie. Welcome to the ocd club!

My husband really thought I went off the deep end with my editing and checking my paper. I would even go back and look AFTER I submitted the paper! Like that does a lot of good, lol.

ROFLOL....even in the middle of the night!!!! I am totally snorting on this one, only because it takes one to know one!!!!

LOL funny story (well I thought it was funny). I hadn't yet realized in whatever that class was where the DQs were only worth 3 pts each until the end of week 2 when the grades came back. I looked at my points and I went, "WHAT? She only gave me 6 points? WTH?! I spent hours on those!" Then, duh, I realized it was 3/3 twice, thus 100%. Well, I was talking to my husband one night & with chest puffed out and hands on hips I said to him, "I'm not gonna do it. Nope. Not worth it. Not gonna" (you have to imagine the whiney so THERE voice that went along with my proclamation). He stood there in the kitchen with his mouth agape, eyeballs wide, and said, "What? YOU are not going to turn in an assignment? Did Hell just freeze over? Are you okay? Should I call 911? No way, you'll do it, I know you will, you won't be able to stand looking at that zero, I'll bet you 50 bucks you'll do it anyway". God I hate when he's right. I did it. And all the rest of them. &^$#@ :blackeye:

I HAD NO IDEA, NONE!!! 3 POINTS!!!!! I have been wasting hours on those things, hours I say!!! I just told my husband, he's like yeah, you didn't know?!!!! NO I DID NOT KNOW!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: No wonder these people come in with 100 word posts, past due, don't care...and no I will not be late, I will do a good job, and I will get all 3 points...such a dingaling!!!

Today I am feeling a little rebellious. Has anyone ever NOT participated in the CLC? What I mean is from the very beginning sent the instructor a message saying that they will not be participating, so please do not assign them to a group? I know we just need a C to pass and if we do well on everything else, that should not be a problem. I just wonder what the instructor would do. Do you think they would grade you harder on everything else and screw up your grade or do you think they would be fair? Would you get an incomplete for not finishing all assignments? Sometimes the stress from the stupid CLCs does not seem worth it. End of rant - I got attacked by a shih tzu today, so I am in a funky mood. No serious damage. My boyfriend says my leg looks like the animal kissed my leg with lip stick on!

Well, I must say, the thought has never even crossed my mind. I would imagine that would be a no-go, for any of the reasons mentioned above (possible incomplete grade, harder grading on other assignments, etc.). I wouldn't recommend it, that's for sure.

What is it about them (CLCs) specifically that is the worst part for you? The most stressful part that you'd chance getting an incomplete grade rather than do?

I will absolutely take part in all of them, but I hate feeling like my performance can affect other people or that their performance can affect me. I would much prefer a harder single person assignment than a CLC. I just wonder what would happen. I like to know all the options just in case. I guess I have the same question about not turning in a paper or not posting DQs or responses to DQs for participation. Sometimes life gets busy and you need to know where you can cut corners if necessary.

My current instructor posted an announcement that we are required to turn in every assignment and DQ in order to pass the class. She said she had people in her previous class that had an 'A' into the 5th week and decided not to turn in stuff in the last week, and were failed becasue of it.

Thanks Rainyn! That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I have been tempted to check out early on classes that I had an A in going into the last week. Now I know that it is too risky!

I just finished Statistics with 100% and I am NOT a Stats person in the least. I signed up for online tutoring twice a week - one to go over the spreadsheet, one to go over the workbook assignment. I also watched the youtube videos by tina9msu that walk you through each spreadsheet. If I can do it, anyone can! I actually thought Statistics was the easiest course so far - NO PAPERS!!!

Congrats Noodles! You did everything you could to succeed and you have been rewarded:up:. I agree, the videos were wonderful but that darn teacher I had did not tell us about them at all and was the most minimally helpful teacher of them all. I found those by searching Google. I didn't do the tutoring, but it's great that you did.

Wow! I don't understand how they can do that!

Oooh sorry about the dog bite! I got bitten by a small dog when I was a little girl, it clung to the skin on my back and I still have the scar!

I would recommend doing what ever you need to do to participate in the CLC. Take over if you must, assign people parts and ask them if they are ok with them, if not they need to speak up in the forum and come up with suggestions. Take the project apart, divide it and do your part the best you can. Type everything up in the CLC forum so the teacher knows you have been participating even if the others are not responding or participating.
