Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Hmm....I am also in at the end of Community Class, this is also week 5 for me. I so get ya WW28.
Are you guys in the same class?
That's what I was wondering. Are we taking the same class WinterWhite28?
Ahhh, I have been working so much that have been absent from everything that is going on here. Ugh, I hated that community class.

Enjoying your freedom? :)
It really is, and of course with a CLC where the instructor is a fly on the wall, one has to be very careful of bullying. I'm sure having a CLC like this in ethics is, learning how to play nice and come to an agreement with those you may not agree with.
Oh I hated the ethics CLC too. In all honesty I didn't like any of the CLC's.
Tokmom, last week I worked over 60 hours, this week I am doing about 50. I don't know what freedom is.
JRich that is just crazy. That is just too much just to be working, muchless going to school on top of that.
I use to live in Houston, Pearland, & Manvel.
JRich,
Not a great way to spend your post graduation moments. Did you celebrate at all other than working?
Hi everyone! I planned my schedule so I can take Community Health over the Christmas break and get 2 extra weeks to complete everything. Thank you everyone for so much advice on this class. Does anyone have a syllabus for Trends or Leadership? I am thinking about doubling up on those and would like to know what I am getting myself into before I commit. If no syllabus, then just give me a breakdown of the projects for each one. If you have any instructors to recommend for either of theses classes, please PM me. Thanks! Also, what is the worst grade you have ever received on a CLC? Is it worth it to stress out over these, or can you get by with an A just by meeting the requirements? So far, I have been getting A's and I don't feel that I have needed to try too hard. Maybe things get worse as they go?
I felt as though the expectations ramped up after I completed stats. We were mandated to keep to a minimum 12th grade level writing in ethics and many of the instructors forewarned that good APA was expected.
Trends and leadership are busy classes, but I think if you double, those would be the ones. JRich would know best. Both are really dry classes and have the usual assignment due weekly. Leadership did not have a CLC, if I recall, however, trends did.
Oh goodness, I really disliked the CLC for Ethics! I found out how very badly some classmates can write! I wondered how they passed their previous classes :/

INTERESTING.... I see the process as an ethical dilemma! What to do if a CLC member doesn't agree or it's split down the middle?? It's kind of like being on a jury and 2 people aren't on the same page as the others? Oh boy. And all this is conversed and documented for the Instr to see in the Forum. Hmm. I wonder how that is viewed by the Instr? My luck I will be grouped with ppl who have completely different viewpoints. I would be thinking they'd be observing the goings-on in the group and watching for either bullies or rollovers that take a dive for the sake of the project. This class just added another layer if interesting-ness. Tune in for Prism's episode of "12 Angry Men"!
