Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

So basically even though it says I have "8 future courses" that isn't the case? Should I say something now?
I would be asking ur adviser if there are any other classes your going to require. I originally had 10..then found out later I needed 2 more...I was not a happy camper, lol

I am just finishing up my 3rd class...Community Health, ugh! I was wondering if anyone could PM me a list of instructors I should avoid or try to get for the remaining classes. Thanks!

Sent u my list. I had no issues with them. There was a list floating around with good profs and those to avoid. I had 1 to avoid and she was fine. 1 has to keep in mind, some people get upset when a prof marks a bit harsher, so they say to avoid her! GL

Thanks!

That was me on the early doubling up. I did it for the first 2 classes. Wasn't unmanageable, but everything's due at the same time for each. I wrote everything for one class on a saturday before it was due and everything for the other the sunday it was due. It was a bit stressful and sucked up all of my weekends for 5 weeks, so I didn't do it again.

They did act like it was a big deal, but I had a good GPA from some graduate level online classes I had taken, so I assured them I would not have a problem with it. They just want to know they can trust you; I assume the advisors are kind of responsible if you fall on your face and they let you take extra classes.

Hey, can someone spell out capstone for me? I'll start on it in April, but I want to already have a plan when I do research in February/March. I'm on the old program. I don't have a job right now, so will I need to find a facility and a mentor to do something in? Or is the mentor through GCU?

Biggest thing is to find ur 15 articles..8 of which have to be research based....understand the articless.....come up with PICOT (google it) first 2 weeks (of the old program) really centre on that..esp the 15 articles!

Ok what do these article need to be about? I guess I'm still not understanding what is the subject we are covering in the Capstone class!

You pick the subject..have u googled what PICOT is? Once u do that u will have a better understanding....you pick the subject....thus why it can be a fun class, as hopefully you pick something u have some interest/passion in. 1 thing u should keep in mind.. how challenging is it going to be to find 15 articles that you can use? And of course have to normally be within the last 5 yrs. I recall some classmates having great ideas...then when they tried finding articles, it was next to impossible. Dont be afraid to ask the school librarians for help.

Greetings Everyone,

It has been two years, I can't believe it has been this long; it has gone so very, very fast. I have 6 more classes to complete and I have to repeat my last class due to me being mislead by my former counselor. So I just submitted my reinstatement form and I am awaiting a response. Has any body gone through this?

I need to repeat my Research class NRS-433V. Does anyone have any recommendations on good instructors and who to avoid?

I am so had to be back to this forum.

I had to detach because it was difficult seeing others progress on something I couldn't resume at the time.

Important thing is that ur back at it....and u can do it!!! I took awhile to finish as well, started in Sep 2013 and did not finish until Aug 2015....I enjoy my free time, lol tried sending u a PM, but received this msg: "`NurseConnie33 has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

Connie, glad you are resuming the program. I have 4 more classes to go and I will be done. I have to echo what Flames has stated repeatedly - if you do the work required, follow the rubric for the assignments then you should be all right regardless of the teacher (I hope I do not have to eat those words). The only time this has not worked out for me would be in the statistics class. I passed with an A, but not because of the teacher. I got the A from Flames recommendation on the Youtube videos from his teacher - they were a life saver!
