Wow! I am a brand new grad. I did not know certain states would not accept the BSN from GCU. I did have a mentor and went through the new 10 week capstone class. The mentor had to be an RN with a BSN or higher and had to work at the approved cite that was used during the Capstone class. The cite and mentor had to be approved in advance by the school. Ill be curious to see what other have to say about this!

Finding a mentor and a site was a big problem for me as well. Not every nurse is hospital based. The whole program would be better if it took other nursing into account. What I learned was for the hospital nurse and did not apply to me. You can talk with GCU and see if there is a local hospital that has a contract with the college, but you may have to get drug tested and fingerprinted, ect. My local hospital required a full background check, at my expense, because I was not a hospital employee. You might check a long term care facility in the area and see if one of the RNs would be willing. Good luck with Research!

If you have the name of an instructor, you can always E-mail that instructor and ask when their next class will start. I did that several times, especially with the stats class. You never know, the instructor you want, maybe starting a new class in the following week. I had instructors tell me up to 3 classes out. You can change some class around with the exception of stats and research. If memory serves me correct, you have to take stats than research!

Capella has a program that is a bit different. With the flex plan, there are no discussion boards, only papers and power point and you go at your own pace. My girlfriend and I started at the same time and she finished before more at Capella as my classes had a lot more work with the weakly discussion questions and required responses. And as far as Stats I had to get a local college professor to tutor me, which cost me a lot of money. The class was extremely difficult and many students in the class were taking it for the second time. I would not have passed without the tutor. I almost dropped out d/t that class but with a lot money and help I passed with a very high grade. My girlfriend did not have to take statisitcs at Capella and her Capstone was 4 papers and a power point, no mentor or required hours.

I did not have to do anything in the community other than during the Capstone class. I also sent you a private message. Sorry I think I did have a few small presentations, I had to go back and look at my projects to remember. There were a few cases, in various class, when I had to present something for example: a pamphlet or poster and I just presented it to some co-workers so it was not a great big deal!

Can anyone tell me about the new stats class and how to get help with it . I have yet to find anyone that has taken it. I'm almost ready to try it again. GCU does not have a tutor (I have already asked) and the whole class has changed so the you tube videos do not help. I would like to talk with someone who taken the new class!!

I have a friend a head of me that just took stats and dropped the class as she was failing. She said the book is new and all assignments are new. The school does not have a tutor for statistics. I even checked myself and that is correct, the school does not offer a tutor. I cannot find anyone that is willing to tutor in health care statistics. Has anyone taken this new stats class or know anything about it?
