Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Flames - your such a nerd.....LOVE it! LOLbtw... that is said with all the affection in the world!
I am not a nerd at all.....if u knew me in the real world, u would agree, lol people get stressed about Capstone, as it is a LOT of work...for the most part u get to pick out the topic.....I thinkthat helps a great deal....I hated writing 99% of the papers...and it would be Sunday at noon before I would start as I just could not get motivated to write...I needed that time crunch to motivate me,lol But with Capstone, was much easier to get motivated and work on the project.
Appears I am back in the working force.....Contractor Gov't job at various Govt clinics! But will take awhile as will be waiting on various govt background checks.....

I say the same thing about me - if you only knew me. Had to laugh the other day as a forum I am on a responded and gave references that included OSHA and AHRQ with citations - School is wearing off on me. LOL
Yay for the job! You talking about background checks makes me chuckle...one of the things I do for a school break is play words with friends. Got the letters T L I B A N A ....seems talaban is not an accepted word. Went to check it with a scrabble cheat and the website locked up tighter than a drum. Told Mr I am probably on a naughty list with the CIA/FBI now.... ROFL
I too enjoyed the capstone and I'm proud of my paper. :) Going from 5 weeks to 10 would be less stress, but I have to echo flames. It really wasn't bad at 5 weeks.
Hi Everyone! New here. :) I just started at GCU on Monday (12/5). Question...can you take more than one class at a time? I haven't asked the school yet, just curious if possible and if so, doable?? Thanks!

I overlapped a classes a couple of times. I was cash pay so no financial aid issues. Was living oversea's and was coming home on leave for 30 days. Choose to overlap one class by 2 weeks and the other by 3 so I could stay on track time wise.
Yes u can..I never did as I was in no rush to finish. I was told 1 had to wait a few classes before u could double up...but there was 1 poster on here that was able to double up pretty much right away, which does not surprise me, as 1 of the weaknesses of the program is the student advisors....some are fine, while others are pretty much useless.
Will send u a PM..belive u can read it..but will not be able to respond to PMs until u have posted 15 times on the forum
I think for many another week or 2 would be nice....but an extra 5 weeks, would just make it drag on and on.....easy to say now as I am finished, lolI too enjoyed the capstone and I'm proud of my paper. :) Going from 5 weeks to 10 would be less stress, but I have to echo flames.
