Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

I have no idea what PERRLA is!

APA PERRLA software helps students properly format papers in APA style and create citations and references - PERRLA.com its is a MUST have...sets up ur title page...APA citations and refence/page!! And best of all it saves them all (up in the cloud..so u can access them anywhere) it is very user friendly, but not fool proof as u do have to know the type of material it is (there is a drop down list) and id u have any issues, u simply email for help and they get back to u VERY quick. Well worth the $30.....makes citations/refs super super easy!! if there is 1 program that is a must..this is the 1!!

Thanks! Its very hard to learn something so new, in such a short time. The portal opens, and for those of us who work, it hard enough to keep up with the assignments let along try to get help and learn something very new. I will check out the video.

Hi Howlee. Use the youtube videos that Flames suggested. The worked better than any extra book (I purchased Statistics for Dummies, and Naked Statistics - complete wast of money). The only reason I passed the class was due to using those suggested videos - even got an A. They were a life saver - way better at explaining how to do the Excel problems.

Just finishing up Nursing Research now - not a bad class, it did make me rethink my PICO for my Capstone. For those that have completed the program - how long was your Capstone class? I thought it was 5 weeks, but I just got a call from GCU about coordinating a preceptor for the Capstone class and they said the class was 10 weeks long.

In June 2015 was still 5 weeks long

Well, from what I understand, those that will graduate after 1/1/2017 will have the 10 week Capstone class as their final class. They have combined the Spirituality class and the Ethics class into a 5 week class, so the program is still the same length. Interesting . . . . .

I guess there is good/bad to that.....Lot of work in the capstone class, but I actually found it to be 1 of the easier classes, due to the fact, the topic was of interest to me...plus with the info people posted on here....1 can have the 15 articles and PICOT statement ahead of time, lol

Hello All, some of you may remember me as PinkDonkey.... remember those donkey rides down into the canyon to get to school? lol!

I have been working full time for some time in medical review for the military overseas....I am finding myself extremely exhausted. That is what held me back from starting. I am happy to hear so many are having good experiences.

If I want to do this I have to go part time. I don't know what is wrong with me but I sleep 14 hours a night each day of the weekend. Getting old!

If ur paying out of pocket, you can pretty much go at ur own pace..taking longer breaks between classes, I took close to 5 months off at 1 time, lol But if u have student loans, then it is a different story, lot more restrictive. To help make things easier on urself, take the time and learn how to write an APA style paper. Pretty much all RN to BSN programs are based on papers completed in the APA format. If one is a strong writer/researcher, u can really zoom through the classes. Gl

Hi everyone! I'm back, I was going steady till last sept/october, when I got two jobs and had to call it quits for a while. I'll start patho in January, Research in February, and Capstone in April (still graduating under the old program/5 weeks capstone class). Right now I'm scheduled to finish Leadership before the Christmas break. I'd like to push things forward a little faster--right now I still have two week breaks scheduled between classes. Would you recommend skipping the 2 week break and going straight from Research into Capstone? Or will I need/appreciate the time in-between? And is patho really bad? So far, I haven't had trouble with most of the classes (other than hating all the subjective religion papers), but I know a lot of people say patho is tough? Thinking about stacking the last week of leadership with the first week of patho to speed things up.

Thanks for any info!

In reply to the question about the longer capstone, they called me and tried sell me on switching over to the new program, but I didn't want to. They told me I had to finish the original program by a certain date (May 2017 for me) in order to not be forced into the new program. It was based on continuous enrollment from my start date, so since I had to take a several month break due to moving, I worked out with my advisor when I had to go back in order to finish the program under the old course schedule.

Patho tough? I thought it was 1 of the more interesting classes and not difficult at all. One is actually dealing with "hospital stuff" meaning medical stuff. Only had 1 DQ per week, our prof added an optional 2nd one. One of the more interesting classes of the whole program.

To get ready for capastone...have ur PICOT statement ready to go and the 15 articles (8 have to be research based) If you have done that, your in a great position.

PM sent

I just recently got a call from CGU giving me the heads up for this capstone class. I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the work now and can hardly think how to handle double the work load for a 10 week class. I was also told I have to get a mentor that is college approved.
