What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Winter,

I had a feeling they had them. A co-worker was signed up for the GCU MSN program, however she dropped when she heard there was a CLC. She went back to WGU.

I laughed hard at this, because tonight the hubsters asked if we could finally have our dining room table back... I looked at it, all covered with reams of paper, highlighters, coffee cups, gum, earplugs, headphones, and more and more papers. I said "everything can go but the blue book, I never would have made it without that guy and I'm keeping him!"

I know, right? :lol2: My entire world was one side of the couch and two end tables covered in papers, head phones, highlighters, and that little blue book. Husband would come along every once in awhile and take a cup or plate away, but was afraid to touch anything else because I think I growled at him at one time, lol. It took me a few months to actually throw away all my research papers and anything GCU related. I feared they would come after me and tell me I never passed and it was just a joke, lol.

You need to clear off your table and buy yourself some flowers. Something pretty and well deserved. :)

Not sure if I will go for the MSN....and for sure would not do it at GCU because of the CLC groups.....Will be stating that on my school survey!! 2 weeks down on Capstone. It is more work than a regular class.....but if u do a bit each day, it is not so bad.....of course I still wait for the weekend to start, lol Goin gto try and rectify that for this week! Both DQs are already done..now just to get motivated to do week 3 project! Good times

Today is lucky number 13 for me! Now to finish week 4 and 5 DQs. I'm also going to start weaving the paper together if I see a graded assignment back. Oh yeah so close. Ok enough delaying here. :writing:

Hey Winter I was able to get the assignment done and actually got a 100 on it. Prism gave me some much needed guidance. I had both DQs done on Monday, dissemination paper done today, and will be starting the evaluation paper tonight. I am ready for this to be over.

total side note:

I like the new little red button over there :pntrghi:

After that Cap paper, it's nice to give my scrolly wheel a break!

Are there any new students on this forum?! I just started my second class this week. The first wasn't bad, but I hated the CLC group projects! :)

Welcome! I am on class six, my halfway marker.

I don't think there is anyone that has much positive to say about CLC's. My take on it is grin and bear it, to get to the objective at the end.

CLC is a bad word!!!!

I had one excellent CLC (only one person handed in incorrect citations - but her stuff was acceptable.) The rest I wanted to pull my hair out. 2 were excruciating (the one with kwmom where a crazy woman wanted to restart the whole CLC at 2pm or something like that the day it was due, and my last one....the sound of crickets gives me chills to this day!). If you can let it go (which I never did, sit back till someone cracks and let them run the show). Seriously your going to go crazy the week of it anyway, just postpone until the week of it and then you save yourself some grief. Welcome to the group, this will get you through, has me (well in another 12 days, yay!).

Any tips for into to research week 2 literature summary?

Good Old CLCs I swear the school plants at least 1 slacker in the group, just to see how you cope with it. I was pretty fortunate in my groups, still found them frustrating. The way you handle them sort of depends on the Prof. If I know the prof is a very "fair" marker, I really don't get that concerned. 1 clc project was terrible, I think that may have been research! Another guy took the lead right away, was terrible. our Picot which should have been down 1st was done last and the work did not align up with the Picot, lol Still got like a 93%. As well if you do well on your own papers, really don't have to worry to much about the group project sinking you----Not saying to do crappy work on the CLC---just saying other peoples crappy work should not affect you that much!

Keep all communication in the color forum..so the prof can see what is going on! Now if someone does real crappy work or plagiarism, along those line, I would send them a private email first, so they can rectify it. But if they came back in any form of negative manner..back to the color forum.

The CLC really should be the easiest part of the class, as if properly delegated, less work than a paper in most cases. I try to take the lead and get the balling rolling ASAP...hand out the tasks and done. But usually you can't get everyone all as 1 group until week 2,lol Good times! You will survive
