Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Gikg, my instructor is D.N. and I also started on 3/30.
I finally experienced other classmates who cheat on their DQ's! The instructors have to see what I see right? I am in my first week of Leadership and I googled Management Theories because the lecture notes had barely any information on them and I found a great article. I read it, and in my own words answered the DQ. At the bottom was an example in a hospital and as I am reading other students posts, someone used the same article but word for word and used the example too!
I have seen this in every class I have taken. I figured it wasn't my job to police the students and the instructor has said nothing...

I saw that exact same thing in Stats and Leadership both, made me want to vomit.
I am searching my articles now. I have already 8 of them. I am just not sure how to answer the questions for the "selecting sources of literature" assignment. I am suppose to summarize the abstract? when asks for statistics, am I suppose to say what kind of statistics it was used or stated 80% of people bla bla bla while 20% did not? I am not sure if I am doing it right. grrrr I just wish I could fast forward this 5 weeks.
I am struggling with the lit review too. The stats vs occurrence. The stats are the quantitative numbers and the occurrence is the population it is affecting. If I'm wrong would someone please correct me. I figured that out after the 4th review. Put it in your own words, just use those four points to answer.
I am also having a hard time completing the "selecting sources of literature" and the "proposal for change paper". Who is your instructor gikg? I wonder if were in the same class.
I haven't even started the proposal for change. Work tomorrow (hopefully, my rib is killing me) then come home finish lit review and start that other paper on Friday. I have the easiest assignment done, loser. Next week I start out working the first three days so I'm skunked for getting ahead there too. This too shall soon pass!

I think many profs don't even read the DQs.......never understood how someone could have a lot of writing than no references,lol....I will save that for the final survey on the program....

Hmmm I guess it makes sense. I will review what I wrote so far.

I'm still looking for articles. Have 2 left. The picot is already done since the introduction to research class. Hopefully tomorrow I will start the paper, otherwise I will have to spend my weekend on this grrrr
Those lit reviews are THE worst part, in my opinion. Once you get past those the paper seems to come together. I actually had fun doing the addendums, because I had creative license to do what I pleased.
Tokmom you can say that again! They all look and sound the same to me.
I made a a document to do my lit. reviews with (just the questions with some lines to scribble notes with)...They are all sitting in front of me like white vomit. I have entered 5 of them into the document. Guess why i'm here.....yeah, avoiding the obvious. Ok back to uploading my lit review! As Crush would say...'later dudes, or was it kowabunga...either way....gone.
