Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Not sure why it has to be in the rubric...it is in the instructions......when in doubt, ask the Prof at the beginning of the course
Research/Capstone:Not sure who asked, but research, PICO and capstone have one thing in common... RESEARCH. ... Be comfortable writing a literature review, because you have to write a minimum of 15 of them for two of the capstone papers.
Research kicked me into high gear. It totally freaked me out about the capstone, lol.
Yeah, if I had this program to do over again [GASP], I would schedule my classes differently: Stats, then Research, then Capstone. Having done stats/research last year, I'm not faring very well trying to remember what the heck is a longitudinal study vs. a whatever... having it all right on my heels would have been a much better plan.
My cousin just re-posted this on FB"when I die, I want the people I did group projects with to lower me into my grave so they can let me down one last time"
Lolol, anyone relate??
So far so good with my CLC group this time though. Time will tell!
Yes I can!!!
I can't remember if I used it here or on facebook but I have used the comment before. Went to my daughters parent teacher conference and found out she used it in her English class. Apparently she feels the same way...

Totally agree
Can anyone tell me what book we use for Leadership? I see a few titles that could fill the bill in my account. I usually buy a very cheap, usually earlier edition of the book to have in hand and I want to start looking.
Working on replies and my work plan for Community Health after putzing around all day.

Can I just like this a billion times!
Oh well, I guess I just got lucky on word count!
You're right Prism, when in doubt a PM will clear it up.
And I think many profs barely even read the, so not surprised they don't notice. My trends prof has seperate sheet and makes notes of everyting, she def reads it and I appreciate her feedback
Mine noticed, lol. I felt the only class that had my papers skimmed was Professional Dynamics. After that, I noticed my grammar, APA, and sentence structure were critiqued.

I had this too, so aimee you may run across profs that will ding you bigtime as I did. She explained that there is a reason for the wordcount; that too much info not only loses the audience in detail/minutiae but one should be able to condense and streamline knowledge. I forget exactly how she was able to grade me down (as there are no dots on the rubric for wordcount), but she did - worst grade I'd received up to that point, in the 80's. I couldn't really argue, it said it right there in the assignment description
. From that point on I made it a habit to send each prof a PM at the beginning of each class asking their stance on word counts.
