Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Last day of Intro to Research. I am absolutely livid at the moment! I had noticed that week #5, under grading, didn't add up to 1000 points - had a whole 150 pts missing. So when people started asking questions about how to turn in their PICOT etc, I was like, "Um, excuse me, but under the Syllabus there's a CLC listed, but not under the assignment tab...." Long story short, yeah, we ended up getting assigned to our groups last Wednesday, FIVE DAYS BEFORE CLASS IS OVER. And I get to have one of the plagiarists that I've turned in put in my group too. I'm just finished trying to shine this [bleep] of a PowerPoint project into something resembling a submission, no thanks to half of my group since they sent me total garbage, of course, and zero time to tell them to redo it.

Lesson learned: Check your assignment tab against the syllabus AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO CLASS.

That is all for now. UGH!

Actually, that was a fun - and solo, thank goodness - PP presentation.

I did mine on "Rainman" but on Tom Cruise's character, Raymond, and his Narcissistic Personality Disorder, his lack of empathy, inability to create emotional bonds with others or recognize the need for them, all while being mystified by his brother's complete inability to do any of these things as well. And, of course, his journey of emotional discovery by the end of the movie. Really enjoyed writing it, probably my favorite assignment - well, the one I'm most proud of thus far.

I did the Elephant Man, he was super interesting. Too bad we did not have a forum to share these beauties. My all time favorite assignment!

That is bananas!

Our last teacher opened up the groups 2 weeks before the assignment was due and I think that worked out really well. In the first few days we were able to formulate a plan and had the assignment completed before the due date. Sometimes when they open up the groups the first day of class I don't love it because then there is so much back and forth between members.

5 days is just crazy though. I wonder why she did that.

I think the latest I have had it open up is by the end of the 1st week. I always look ahead at the calendar..don't think I have looked at the assignments tab. I know quite often when u enter the class before class start, the CLC project may not be listed.

Spirituality has a pseudo-CLC. You trade/grade another student's paper.

Specializes in Cath Lab, Case Management.

Trends has one....ask me how I know??? Worse group ever! Now another one is going to go loco, really, where do these people matriculate from? The class is super special too, lets read all the literature out there about BSN vs ADN patient outcomes and then just hang out there on your own opinions (yes more than one student). If I make it through the end of this one without mouthing off I will be lucky.

Sally be nice to Suzy, Suzy quit pinching Johnny....sigh of course this was going to end with an explosion! Just so that you can see what type I'm talking about...(go pee first ok, I warned ya!).

Alllllrighty! The fun is starting. I have questions about both the CLC and the week 5 assignments for Community Health. Anyone care to straighten me out, lol? I can ask here or via PM.

What I found worked best was to break it down to smaller parts/sections.
