Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Can you imagine if we combined both threads? It would be well over 400 pages!

Yeah, Flames had to go all rogue and start his own, now we're all messed up and he's gone! Toad.

He did go rogue on us, but I heard from him the other day via PM. We may see him posting again shortly.

How about books- i'm not footnotes era, but I like my hard copy textbooks and always find it difficult to read texts off of the computer. Do we use the textbooks enough that I should plan on having them on hand each course?

About the books. I just purchased a 7" Kindle Fire for 159.00 (the 129.00 one would have been fine) so that I can have access to the books at work. I see myself reading during breaks and lunch at work instead of getting out of bed at 0100 because I am stressed that I didn't get the reading done. I got it Friday and have it all set up and works like expected.

Only problem is I have another avenue to play candy crush and cruise Allnurses. Just a thought for someone that doesn't have an expensive I-Device.

I do like hard copies as well, but seem to be doing fine with what is offered right now.

I'm hope I can get right back into the swing of things. I graduated this past May and its been nonstop since with NCLEX and working. I'm fresh off orientation on my unit and want to get right back into school. I've also taken a few distance learning courses so I'm hoping that'll all be towards my benefit? As for getting ahead in the second course, by time the two week break occurs i'll be one week in so hopefully I can see the syllabus? What is your take on that?

Shucks about the books. I think i'll end up taking out a few trees myself in that case.

I guess I am also on my own with that 'get college credit' exam. I haven't found much online anywhere about them.

You see the next class the Friday before the class starts, therefore you get a three day head start.

What does your advisor recommend for the elective?

Research is in the books! It could not have happened sooner. I'm going to say it and you can all kick me off the island but here goes....give me slackers any day versus the I want to change the whole completed PPT with less than two days before assignment is due!!! Really??? Where are you from, because as Woody would say..."Somebody's poisoned the waterhole!" Shaking it off! :dead: :blackeye:

Hey Beauty...it was not the class it was the drama in the CLC for kwmom and I!!! I actually thought Research was a learning experience. It gives you knowledge to support your point, and let's face it most people don't come prepared with research to support their point, it will help you win the day!!!

And research prepares you for the CAPSTONE!! The cap is nothing but one really BIG research paper.:grn:

I'm curious when many of you will be starting the capstone?

For me should be in may.
