Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Yes, I informed instructors when students did not show up. In a few classes I had some members that never showed. The remainder of us students did their parts and we did not include their names on the projects.

It is not that way in every class and some instructors are on 2 to 3+ times a day. It is just like traditional school. Some instructors care and some don't.

Finished week 2 of stats with another 100%...almost done with everything in week 3...hanging on tight and not giving up!!!!

I am giving up on al this APA format. One teacher says one thing and the other something totally different. My intro to research teacher said the subheadings needs to be to the left. So that was what I did for my first paper in ethics. But for her she wanted on the center. I use PERLLA to create my references. No one ever complaint but for this ethic teacher she corrected all references. She changed the name of the topic to italic. I thought italic would be the journal name but for any website should be regular font. Go figure.

Are you using the correct type of formatting in PEERLA? I would need to see a visual but I can't "see" what you mean in the reference section.

Have you looked at Owl Purdue? There are some examples of headings for APA. The best way I can describe the headings is by example. AN will not let me center so I pushed the title over with asterisks.

You have many levels of headings and the most I have used is three, but we will only address two and I use an example. :)

Let's say you want to talk about Apples, cuz you LOVE apples of every kind. A level ONE heading would be centered. Next, a LEVEL 2 heading would be to the LEFT margin and bold:

****************Apples Grown in Washington State

Granny Smith

(Indent here) Granny Smith are wonderfully tasty apples that are a bit sour, but a firm, crunchy apple when fully ripe....

Red Delicious

(Indent here) Red delicious is a red skinned apple and very sweet...blah blah...

**********

So, if you finish your apple descriptions and want to start on apple growing locations it would again be centered with the towns listed, again, to the left.

See if this helps your APA grade. :)

In my last class all the heading for the paragraphs were on the left. For ethics she want it on the center. For the reference lets say I have:

Fant, C. (2013). Major ethical dilemmas in nursing. Retrieved from http://www.nursetogether.com/ethical-dilemmas-in-nursing

I have always done this way. This is how PERLLA does it. This teacher wanted me to make (Major ethical dilemmas in nursing) in italic. The only time I saw this bring italic is when it is a journal not an article from website.

If you use subheadings, make sure there is a minimum of 2 subheadings under each main heading. I was just reading a bit on APA, yes on my time off, I'm sick and need a doctor obviously!

I rented some of my books on Amazon because I like the hard copy. What I found out on accident is that they will refund your money if you return the book within 30 days. I just decided to return my book before it was due and was super excited to see a refund appear - lol!

Hi everyone! I have been MIA for a few weeks. I am not excited about the upcoming time change because that means I lose an hour of working on my projects. Somehow I went from the student who turns everything in on Monday to the student who waits until 11:40pm on Sunday to submit my assignments! That extra hour means a lot to me. I start Community Health on Monday and just realized that I doubled up with Patho for week 5. I will also be out of town for a week the 2nd week of class. I have 3 assignments due in Community Health that last week that is doubled with Patho. What a nightmare!!!!! I don't want to change it though because I have a highly recommended instructor for Patho. All I can focus on is that I have 148 days until I am done with this program. Starting to get excited!!!!

That's gonna be brutal. Glad you have someone you will like. It's nice we can trust each other for recommendations.
