Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
But while we were on the trip it had to be cut short due to me having cardiac issues and being admitted.
WOWWW, so glad things are allright now, how scary for you.
But it put me behind a whole week. When I contacted the prof. about what had happen she pretty much re enforced the gcu policy. So then I contacted my adviser and he said I asked for the drop 2 days too late.
So here I am. A week still behind trying not to get discouraged and remain optimistic.
Something just doesn't sound right. I say that is because I know I've read on these threads somewhere where a student said something about how supportive her instructor and the Univ was when she had to take extra time for her assignments due to a personal illness. I'm sure it said she was going to drop but all parties talked her out of it, encouraged her to stick it out, and made some concessions/accommodations for her.
Honestly I've always thought that it is their mission and goal to help students pass classes when they can, if some serious life issues just got in the way (as opposed to just being a knucklehead student and not trying)
I really don't know what to think. I just know that I am going to do my earnest and await the outcome. Oh and another thing about my prof. when I do turn in my late work, I get docked for the tardiness. Like I said, I am trying not to get discouraged about this class, I will be happy with a C if at all possible.

Hey everyone! I finished up professional dynamics and earned myself an A! I started Family Centered Health Promotion today and looks like it should be okay as well. I am looking forward 5 weeks at HEALTH ASSESSMENT...please send me recommendations of teachers for health assessment or even who to avoid if you havent already PM'd me! Thanks in advance!!!
Hey NurseConnie,
Sorry the instructor is being difficult and not helping. It's not like you were late with papers. I think cardiac issues would qualify for a drop instead of a fail. Hopefully you can catch back up and pass with a C and put this class behind you. It is a heavy class and being sick would make it difficult indeed. If you haven't read, I was severely ill with food poisoning during ethics, but thankfully I had worked ahead so I had some leeway. However, it was also a lighter class.
I do want to say welcome to the group and I hope you find it a supportive environment. :)
JJ,I'm sorry about the layoffs.
What is their excuse to lay off nurses? When it rains it pours, and both situations suck (((hugs))).
So they had a outside firm come in for about 6 months and evaluate the nursing needs of the hospital. we had our lay offs the last week of June and they offered people to take them voluntarily and they would give an extra 2 weeks of pay (on top of another severance pkg) to leave. Me and 4 others from our department left voluntarily. They ended up laying off 87 nurses and they are re-evaluating in September. I did it because they were changing our shifts from 12 hr to 8 hr shifts and I just cannot come to work 5 days a week. I am actively looking for another job per diem, PT or FT, but I am going to be paid until middle of November. So I start my Health Assessment class this Monday. I just saw steel magnolias on the tube today.. lol.
Hey everyone. Just a quick question. So I am sitting here working on my Literature Review for Family Centered health promotion and I needed a little clarification if possible. I just need some clarification on what it means by "implementation methods for health promotion that encompasses all areas of nursing". Some of the questions they ask I feel are so vague and maybe I am overthinking it but just wondered if they are looking for how nurses implement health promotion or what? Thanks for any help!

Thank you Prism for responding. The reason I got behind was just because I had my son' graduation and a promised graduation trip, which I made the prof aware of all the activities happening. But while we were on the trip it had to be cut short due to me having cardiac issues and being admitted.
