Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Okay SunshineDaisy, I think Flames & I are up next for Research, what can we expect? What do you think? Spill! :sarcastic:

Not sure who you are talking too, but Pandora and I are in Leadership and start the LAST class (Capstone) on April 14th, and Prism is enjoying herself in stats. ;)

tokmom, haha! I pressed wrong button to answer, anyway I was talking to vegan_RN. you guys almost finished! congratulations! I am still thinking about whether or not taking a 2 week break, I have family matters to deal with very soon, feel like I can study along with it, but still not sure. but also I don't want to break this good mood of my study and current nice CLC group members,,etc..

I know a person that has built in 2 week separation between all her classes. Pandora and I have take a couple 2 week breaks and will be taking another one before the Capstone.

You cannot get the material ahead that far ahead, but the class is usually up the Friday before the class starts. I'm always in the class on Friday, copying the syllabus, reading and starting my paper.

Tokmom thank you very much for your info! good tips. would it be OK, if I ask my advisor about a 2 week break three or four days before the start date?

Yes we are! lol. I took a few breaks off through GCU. I think my original grad date would have been April-ish. Oh well, those two weeks off really helped my sanity, lol.

Yes, let them know ASAP, just because they can fill that spot for someone who might be waiting for a class, and take your two week break.

So far it's not bad, just dry. The first assignment you find a few articles and copy and paste the abstracts. I think they are looking more at your APA. The teacher is pretty nice though! This second paper, was a research summary. Had to find an article and review it then write a paper based on this rubric they give. Seemed easy enough, guess I'll find out in a few days if it really was :p

Oh yes, *that* paper with the high word count. I can't remember what it is now. All those bloody papers blend together!

This word count thing is one reason why Pandora and I ditched our initial Leadership instructor. She actually DEDUCTED points if you went OVER! Heck, she probably deducted if you sneezed, and she deducted for lack of correct APA. Anyway, our current instructor doesn't count title page or references (maybe others did not, but this is the first one that mentioned it) and we can go a 100 words over. The last paper in Leadership had me chopping, moving around paragraphs onto another Word doc to save for later, and calculating the numbers of words I had left to play with.

Speaking of my current paper that I'm supposed to be working on right this second, but took a side trip here instead, has a cap of 1250. I'm maybe...1/3 of the way through and my word count is already 525 words. I know I will be editing my paper, trying to figure out what isn't important.

You guys are so funny! I finally finished the IOM essay...I had to edit a lot out to stay under the word count! Now I know what you mean! They don't keep the same CLC group from class to class do they?

Do any of you remember how you did the flyer in professional dynamics? Is there a word template or did you just use a single page?

Two programs will work for that flyer, both out of the Microsoft package, either Word or Publisher, both have templates you can choose. It's not the last flyer you'll do, so try to figure it out if you can. I remember having an incredibly frustrating time simply because of the formatting. I couldn't figure out how to get things to stop jumping all over the page, and when I thought it was all finished I emailed it to another computer in the house, opened it up, and everything was all over the place! Nothing was where I put it, and it had even created its own pg 2. I guess if you can figure out how to turn things into pdf's that would "freeze" everything where you put it, but I am no computer whiz so I couldn't figure it out, I just eventually learned the "back/undo" button was by BFF.

Uhhh, no. It's a brand new mixed bag 'o nuts every time... Sometimes they turn out great, sometimes not. :nailbiting: Someday I'm gonna start a thread somewhere specifically about group projects (unless it's already been done), maybe not, it would probably crash AN and we don't want that!
