Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Spoke to soon!! My final class has a CAT!! Said it counts as participation, so thats a good thing I guess! But the CAT she asked, pretty much exactly what the DQ 1 is! weird

In my first class they had a link to a site and you had to play a game. Then you came back to her question and posted how you did and what you thought or how it made you feel. That teacher had a CAT every week. Some say it counts towards your grade and others are just giving students another type of post to complete the 6 required posts for the week. They are always related to the topic of the week. Hth.

Hello all! I have been in the RN to BSN program at GCU for 6 months now. I was thinking of taking NRS-440 Trends & NRS-437 Ethics at the same time, but as many of you have already finished them, wanted to get your opinions. I am currently finishing up stats and going into nursing research. I have read almost the entire thread and love your thoughts on everything thus far!

skid, I just started nursing research today, did you too? Could we be cohorts?

I does not appear that I can PM you. Can you PM me and let me know what instructor you have? I would be happy to collaborate!

Welcome skid

I am in Trends now and I think there is a fair amount of writing involved, as there is in Ethics. I am a slow writer and so for me it is time consuming. If I took the 2 of them together it would take up most of my free time, but then you may write faster than I do. I have doubled up most of the way and am used to not having free time by this point! I can almost see the light! Hope that was helpful!

Tokmon,

I haven't heard many people talk about Family-Centered Health Promotion? How is it?

Thanks Paige. I promise I will stop asking questions but maybe not for a year lol xx

Not rn-centered, but pandorasbox and I have been in classes for 4 classes now. What do you want to know? We are set to take stats in 3 weeks.

Nursing research is not my favorite class ughugh

How many papers do you have over the five weeks?

Here is a link to some discussion about this class. Around here about everyone chimes in on this class and gives feedback...

Hang on and learn in this class as it will help you in your Capstone. Pick out your subject then and get your PICO done there as that is one assignment done for week one in Cap. Your on your downhill slide at this point! Good luck!

Yes it helps to use ur PICOT from the research class, but don't stress if you don't....I didn't, but I did use a subject that I had used in another 1 of the classes, which was nice as I already had a PPT done, lol I had over a year between research and Capstone....

For my 2nd anything class I have gone with HLT 317...which is a research class, lol it looks somewhat interesting though. I don't mind these classes as I can relate to them..in fact the research 1 has to do for the class is based on ur line of work......

I wouldn't recommend this. In fact, here is GCU's stance on self-plagiarism (see #3):

Google "submitting previous work considered plagiarism" and read the miscellaneous articles that pop up. It may have flown under the radar because ppts don't go through TII, but still, why chance it?
