Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
Do they Have to reset the tii box?
This is the problem with online programs. You can't stock the instructor around the campus.
Hi guys, I have a couple of questionsWhat is a benchmark assignment? I am in Community and Public Health and am working on mine. Why is it different from a regular assignment?
I have leadership, patho, trends and capstone left after this. Is anyone else heading into those soon?
I never figured out what the heck the benchmark assignments were all about. I have some suspicion that they are tired to skills or outcomes we are supposed to pass to be eligible for our eventual BSN degrees.
If that isn't it then they just had extra characters to use in the assignment descriptions and thought "Benchmark assignment" sounds regal and important.... I never noticed anything different with these assignments.
No going into those classes anytime soon. I will start trends in July. Wanna wait till then?

Correct-o-mundo! (from the GCU glossary of terms and the student handbook):
Benchmark--A defined standard or measure that serves as a point of reference by which performance is measured. It identifies a specific level of performance.
Benchmark Assignment--An assignment that is used to measure a specific level of proficiency or mastery.
… certain critical assignments in each course will be developed as benchmarks that serve as check points of learner competencies. Some of the benchmarks will be practicum-based and others will not. Benchmark rubrics inform learners and instructors of the pre-established levels of competency performance for benchmark assignments.

I always thought the instructors should have told us what the Benchmark Assignment was. I guess I could have asked though!
I will be starting Ethics in 2 weeks and then about 3 weeks later will be going on to the rest of the classes like you are. I may catch up to you since I am doubling up the last 2 weeks of each class. It would be nice to meet up with someone I am familiar with!!
I have seen the term benchmark, but didn't really pay attention to it. but do pay attention to the the Rubric in Trends week 1 paper! In the instructions makes no knowledge about the AARP...but it does in the rubric!! always look at the Rubric, lol
I tried starting Capstone 1 week early......doubling up the last week of Trends with it...my advisor said that it is 100% not allowed to double up with Capstone. Oh well, not a big deal.
Prof I have for Trends is awesome.....she truly cares...provides a lot of feedback on everything....She even writes her own DQs, very involved in the class.

Could you pass this along? I have been looking for a instructor like this since I started. I have only had very minimally involved instructors with pre-prepared responses etc.... Might be a good change.

She did the grading 35 minutes BEFORE I re-submitted the paper. There is a date/time stamp next to my -0-, and a message on the assignment that there was no post by me on the assignment. Either she forgot that we had this whole back and forth about my paper, or she is a serious hard nose, or...other things I can think of but shouldn't say. Either way, I learned my lesson and WILL NEVER AGAIN click the wrong button. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but I believe it was obvious from the very first message I sent her what was needed, and then my submission would have been in time for her grading. The fact that it took me 3 more messages beyond that to get the assignment re-assigned makes me think I'm not the only person who's had difficulties with this instructor. Am I over reacting, or blowing this out of proportion?
