Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Owch, BTDT! You will slap yourself out of it as soon as you go to submit your masterpiece to TII at 2300 and it's Report Awaited, Report Awaited, Report Awaited... then you go to the GCU IT/Tech FB page and you see a bunch of people asking questions like, "Is TII down or something? I've been waiting for 3 hours!" I've done that one too many times... Then when the TII Gods finally decide to grant you a Report Received, your elation turns to freakout mode when the score is 21% and you only have 8 minutes left to get in there and chop a couple pink sentences out, resubmit to TII (again!), get your 19% back and fling that thing into the dropbox by 2359. Now that's an adrenaline rush! Or a bleeding ulcer, whichever :blackeye:

HA! I wish that was a motivator for me. My case study 2 is 37 minutes late, 200 words over, and only half done.... and I'm on AN. Wheres the emoji with the dunce hat?

57 minutes. I had 57 minutes left before my assignment would have been late this week. Oh my, I can never do that again. It's like I got a disease or something and I can't help myself. It keeps getting closer with each class. Somebody smack me outta it! :writing: :sorry:   :dead:

I think they call it apathy, LOL. It is a syndrome known to affect GCU students during the latter half of the program.

OMG, I take one week off from Allnurses and I have to go back 5-6 pages to find out what has been going on. As I read I find weird things like making out with plastic mates and spontaneous code brown instances... Is it spring break yet?

Notice I am here catching up with Allnurses instead of opening the new class and doing work. Heck, I don't even know who the instructor is, I think the class is community nursing something.......

I think I need another 2 week break...

I start my Capstone project in 2 weeks after I finish 440V. Does anyone know what this class is like? Is it paper intensive?

Thank you!!!! ;)

I start my Capstone project in 2 weeks after I finish 440V. Does anyone know what this class is like? Is it paper intensive?

Thank you!!!! ;)

Yes, very paper intensive. The larger papers are roughly 2,000 words. Each WEEK has 2-3 assignments due. With these papers, is the addendum that you include, so on top of your assignments, you may have an executive summary, PowerPoint, pamphlets, etc..due in week 4.

In week five you take all the papers you have written and combine into one, along with a literature review and those cute lil' extras.

My addendum were an executive summary, flyer for a break room, a 12 slide PowerPoint, to sell my idea to management, and a before and after survey that I was going to give the nurses. This was on top of the papers that were due each week so yes its a very labor intensive class.

The literature review is the review of your 15 research articles. This paper alone is an all-day paper so do not put it off until last minute.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me. I had a really bad day at work lol and I'm tired, So excuse the quickie version.

So what you're saying is I should plan to take 5 weeks off from work?

Tokmom gave a great overview of the capstone. I thought the capstone was pretty intense. I was extremely anxious anticipating the work that lied ahead of me. Tokmom helped talk me down from the ledge, and everyone here was so encouraging. You can/will get through it, and will feel so proud and accomplished once it's done. We're all in this together and here to help.
