Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
Is there a place on Perrla that I can just paste the website and it creates the reference entry or do you have to answer the questions about the reference material to produce the reference?
Warning! Warning! Will Robinson! Don't everrrrrr do that, I learned this the hard way...
When you tweak a reference on a PERRLA-produced reference page (or paste in your own), it looks fine right then. BUT, the next time you go to do a real one (answering the questions), it will give you a giant warning box with a bunch of exclamation points that says something like "PERRLA has detected that you have manipulated the template - if you click "proceed" you are in danger of losing your information". And, um, yeah, I clicked "proceed". My entire page of pretty references disappeared. Had to start all over.
Okay all you APA pro's, I have a question. Doing my LC submission and ran into a problem with referencing webpages. The confusion exists because I did more research on the correct way to reference information gathered from websites and now I am all jumbled up in my head.I want to reference material pulled from this website:
Sickle cell anemia Symptoms - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic .
In the past I have used this as a reference in a similar circumstance:
Mayo Clinic Staff. (2014). Symptoms. In Diseases and symptoms: Sickle cell anemia. Retrieved from Sickle cell anemia Symptoms - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic
I tried an online reference generator and can up with this:
Sickle cell anemia. (2014, June 11). Retrieved December 16, 2014, from Sickle cell anemia Symptoms - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic
I guess it all depends on how you are categorizing the Mayo Clinic. I just got an article off there last night for a DQ and did what you did (Mayo Clinic Staff. (2014).....). If you consider it (MC) as a group Author, then yes tht is correct. If you are not, then technically there IS no author, and then the title of the article/webpage moves to the first position.
Here's a great website, scroll down to the Group Author part: APA Guide

Ahhhh, this is killing me. In the past I have assumed that The Mayo Clinic was an group author because it specifically says "by: The Mayo Clinic Staff" but I wanted to make sure it was correct and everywhere I look it says something different. Well it doesn't say anything really different, it just describes my source differently and applies a different rule.
The instructor gave us a word document with particular APA citing examples and it says:
Source referencing:
Author, A. (year of publication or n.d. if there is no date). Title of article. Retrieved from........(website goes here)
or if there is no author
Title of article. (year of publication or n.d. if no date).. Retrieved from.......(website goes here)
Or, if the website is an organization
Name of organization. (year, or n.d.). Title of article. Retrieved from…….(Website goes here)
I would make the assumption that I should use the last, name of org. (year). title of article. retrieved from......
I am making myself nuts about this because I told my CLC problem child that the references and citations should be correct, and I wanted to make darn sure mine were correct as well. Not like she would care or even notice if they were correct. I would notice.

Very good tip. Thank you.
I have Perrla but forgot to use it. I plugged in the information and this is what I got:Mayo Clinic Staff. (2014). Sickle cell anemia. Retrieved from Sickle cell anemia Symptoms - Diseases and Conditions - Mayo Clinic
I think I might be selecting the wrong item from the list to reference. I chose "Article on stand alone website - Group Author"
Is there a place on Perrla that I can just paste the website and it creates the reference entry or do you have to answer the questions about the reference material to produce the reference?
PERRLA is great, but you do have to put in the correct information, spelling etc. Go to the tab marked search. It will show you how to do a PDF, Fact Sheet, lecture, or personal interview. I have used all of these. Not all web based sites (Citefast) will do it according to APA. I just trust PERRLA, I have yet to be marked down on my reference page. HTH
So, apparently just when I think I'm through with the program I still have more work to do. I submitted the final capstone project almost a week ago. Once it's graded, I have to make any recommended revisions and submit the capstone along with a scanned copy of a consent form to the college. This is for proof that I completed the program so they can put through the paperwork for graduation.
My instructor who has always taken the full week to get our assignments back to us is prolonging this agony. I will, of course, do whatever they tell me to do, but just a heads up...when you hit that submit button for the capstone to the instructor, it ain't over.
On a side note, did I ever mention how much I despised CLC projects and the losers I always got stuck with?
