Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

No, not 1 of the schools I looked into, sorry

Just looking online..and the CRNE is still done via pencil and paper--then u wait 4-8 WEEKS for results, ouch!! And still only 3 times a year when one can sit to write the exam! crazy!!

Ahh, the old days! I remember haunting the mail box and dancing in the street when it was my RN license, lol.

Hello everyone, I have been following this thread all week. You all have about made me decide to switch from Kaplan (suppose to start in 2 days) to GCU. The two schools are about the same price if you qualify for Kaplan's academic achievement scholarship, but Kaplan takes 5 months longer and has a lot more credit hours VS. GCU's 36 for me. Does anyone have opinions on Kaplan?

I didn't either. I wanted a true brick and mortar school and my place of employment had GCU at a job fair, so no help here either.

Sorry i didnt look into kaplan either. I really liked positive comments i read about it. Plus my unofficial transcript was evaluated. I liked that. Please keep us posted how GCU is going for you.

Thanks.

I am glad I found this thread. I told Kaplan NO, and actually caught them in a few lies yesterday. Their library is horrible compared to Grand Canyon University. I was able to get on GCU's library yesterday, very user friendly. I have two new jobs starting in the next few weeks, so I will start GCU next month or when life settles down a bit. I am hoping to find a buddy to go to school with like Tokmom has. Wish me luck!

If i could take my bords and had things situated a lil better at home i would definitely be signing up with you. :-) but im stil transitioning from being a full time student part time worker plus being new to this area..a year and a half new. Im hoping to start in may. Keep us posted.

The online library is very good, as well are the librarians!! They truly can help you a lot wuth ur seraches.

Sorry, no Kaplan here either. I really only looked at GCU and WGU :/

I looked at a lot of schools and had the harassing phone calls and emails to prove it,lol I did the KAPLAN NCLEX review classes so I had heard of the KAPLAN name, but just could not take them seriously for school! Doesn't mean they are a bad school. 1 of the reasons I went with GCU was that they did NOT harass me, and I liked their 5 week classes.

no they did not harass me either. i could not believe it! some schools are worst than peddlers looking for a hand out. lol im just hoping when i do decide to start in may that i enjoy it and can be successful like tokmom and flames......

i really like this school, well the sound of things so far. its time for me to just continue on with my education and get that BSN.

Yeah, I liked that they didn't bug me either. I had a few phone calls, because the guy knew I was moving, so he just wanted to stay up to date on my testing dates and when I received my license and was registered in Nursys. Other than that, nada!

Bleh, I just heard back from UTA and they want me to take 18 classes!!! GCU wants me to take 11 and I think I could get it done way faster.

I haven't passed the NCLEX yet. I think I'm going to take it Jan 23rd or very early Feb. Do you think I can start GCU before I know if I pass or not?
