Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
goto ebay and just search Kaplan RN..... you will find a purple covered book and see a gal from shoulders down..with a stethoscope around her neck.....appears they are up to the 14th Edition now..But it now for $11.95 plus shipping...there is a few on there, another is $12.99 Best book out there!!
Thank you! Ihave that book. We had a live kaplan review in my RN program 3 weeks before completion and they gave us that book. We also have the live hurst review coming up in a couple weeks. The school is offering it. I can choose to go or not. And you kno i will be right there! Lol i dont know why im stressing the nclex, i did awesome in school but its been a while since i have taken the nclex, and i guess i forgot how the pressure feels.
NCLEX is a difficult exam! Lot of very intelligent people fail it..and yes even some idiots pass it,lol
I had 1 prof that stated 1 should do about 5000 multiple choice questiuons before your attempt to take it. I just did the Kaplan in the classroom course. I found going to class a waste of time, but the book and the online question bank I found of great use. As well as the PearsonVue question book. I just did a pile of questions. Everyone has thier own method.
You can go onto the Pearsonvue website and it gives you anoverview of the NCLEX exam--as they are the ones that administer it! In fact the Into to NCLEX on the website--is thew exact same one you will see on TEST day....so if you have already looked it over, sort of 1 thing out of the way!
I had friends that waited like 6 months and even longer to write because they didn't want to fail, well guess what, if you had taken it a lot sooner, you could have failed a few times by then, lol No 1 likes to fail, I think a few of them still failed, so that put them even further behind. Lot of NCLEX help here in the STUDENT section. A few yrs back, a member on here had put out a step by step study guide...but there were restrictions on whom she would pass it out to, and then she stopped doing it all together, from what I gather it was very effective. Just remember to take your time and READ the question--its a marathon and not a sprint! And don't forget about the Pearsonvue trick to see if you passed...it is on the STUDENT NCLEX site on how to do it! I started consuming beer on that happy pop-up---Well I was going to be drinking beer no matter what, lol
My sisters are RNs back in Canada, and the CRNE (equiv to NCLEX) was still done that way not too long ago. And I think one only gets like 3 chances to pass. 1 of of instructors at school did her original schooling over in England, pretty sure she stated their "Nclex" took place over 2 days and it was multiple essays they had to write--no faking that!!
Oh goodness, talk about stress! I couldn't imagine taking 2 days to do the NCLEX, plus write, eekk!!!
Kaplan helped me a ton! I did all the Q trainers and averaged about 68 on them, which, I was told, is good. I also went through the LaCharity PDA book, it's pretty helpful! For the 3 weeks before my test I did about 200 questions per day!

Essay would not be fun. That's probably where they cull out the people that guess, lol. Back in the day, one had to wait six months and only had a few times to take the test before you had to take a refresher course. I think it was three tries as well.
The med/surg certification test was like relieving the NCLEX, only a 150 questions in 3 hours though, so a bit more doable. Yeah, glad to have all of those behind me, lol.
Good luck mso on your testing!
Hello everyone, I have been following this thread all week. You all have about made me decide to switch from Kaplan (suppose to start in 2 days) to GCU. The two schools are about the same price if you qualify for Kaplan's academic achievement scholarship, but Kaplan takes 5 months longer and has a lot more credit hours VS. GCU's 36 for me. Does anyone have opinions on Kaplan?
