Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
BTW, I just noticed this... (LOL duh, after being in class over a year...):
At the very bottom of the LC screen is a gray bar that has a link on it directly to Tech Support info page. Saves you from having to go out to the main GCU page & searching for IT. Once there, click the Contact Us ribbon thingy that give you more options.
Wow. The things I learn when farting around avoiding my assignment... Ohh LOOK, a Fly!
Thank you PrismRN for all your responses. Yes it does sound like we are similar, I am way too involved in Loud Cloud for my own good.
Have a response from the instructor:
"Good afternoon, Rob. I apologize, you had all of the necessary participation postings needed and your grade has been updated. Please let me know if there are any other questions or concerns."
I guess I should have waited for everything to work out before I jumped on here crying FOUL!! I'll take my 97%, Thank you~!!!
Rob, are you posting your participation on three different days? I know you said you log in everyday (meee toooo), but if your participation posts aren't spread out that might be why you were dinged. If I post my DQ1 on Monday, DQ2 on Tuesday, and do my participation on Wednesday and Thursday I am not meeting the participation requirements. These need to be done on three different days.
Did she leave any comments about it in the gradebook?
I had a teacher who was dinging me because I wasn't using references. Even though she said we needed to substantiate our posts with references or clinical experiences, she didn't really mean that. It took me until week 4 to get with this unspoken program. I just think since the grades are for participation, it is silly to be required to use references. If I was sitting in an actual class room, my participation wouldn't include an APA formatted reference. It would probably draw on my personal experience. But, I guess that is just my thinking, and not the GCU RN-BSN reality.
You can always try asking her about it in the individual forum too! Maybe it was a mistake.
I think this is online formatting, hence references.
Dq: I would post both on Monday and answer two people on Tuesday, Wed, Thursday. Other times post on Monday and respond on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Many times I would post way more than the normal, because I liked the conversation we had

Really? Do you think it's new?
What paper are we avoiding? LOL
GCU Tech Support is the best tech support EVERRRRR, you can either Live Chat with them or call. Every time I've used them I always end up thinking "I love you guys" (and gals) :redbeathe
Thank you for the incredibly large tech support phone number!!! I have used them before and they were great!
BTW, I was asking about Allnurses tech support though.... Google chrome works so good in the Loud Cloud, but here on Allnurses (AN) not so much. If I want to post something here on the forum I have to fire up Internet explorer. Let me tell you, I can barely do this now that my default web browser is Chrome..... Just not that smart.
Anyone know how to fix Google Chrome to work with Allnurses text editor? Is it just me?
BTW, does anyone use Google Chrome in AN? I just switched from IE, because I just got tired of the problems after the new browser updates, but am having problems with the text editor in AN and applications such as quote and edit functions. Anyone have a solution for this? Anyone know where to find a solution to this? Does AN have a tech support department.... Hopefully one that is better than the tech support department at my facility...
I mainly use my phone. I will have to try Google and see if I have trouble.
I just learned this week that at the beginning of the week you can compose each response and save them as a draft in the DQ forum. Then all you need to do is every day edit them, click post response, and bingo....you are done... Easy to keep track of cause they say draft in the forum view. So this Monday I will post my main two discussion posts and come up with all the responses I need for the week. Then all I need to do is go in every day and post one or two of them.
Seems like it will work.
This doesn't even make any sense to me, I don't blame you for being befuddled. Does her class Announcement give specific directives for what she considers a substantive reply post? Obviously you got the number right (with 8 being >6), so she must be docking either for content or the days of the week they were posted. I've never gotten dinged for participation, and rarely do I go over the 6 required responses. What did she say exactly in the "Comments" section - under the `Reports` tab, `Gradebook`, `Participation`, View Comments? Please let us know the outcome, any tips/hints always help us all.
You sound like me in that maybe you're spending too much time in LC (I know that sounds silly considering you just got dinged for participation LOL), but try to get a life/LoudCloud balance worked out now while you're still early in the program. I used to log on several times a day (okay I still do, it's a hard habit to break - there might be an Instructor question I need to read! ha), but I literally used to read every single student DQ/reply. That itself, while interesting, sucks up soooo much time. Think about if there is an average of 22 students, that's close to 200 posts per week you're reading. I used to think I "wasn't done" if I had any unread posts... Now, my unread posts may linger around 75-90, and honestly, on Sundays, I go into each thread, change the view to "linear display", and wipe them all out at once so I can start fresh for the next week. I just don't need to read them all. I go in, read a few, pick out the ones that I might want to answer, copy/paste them over to an open Word doc I have running all the time, and write out my replies to 6 of them. This way you can "do" all 6 in one day - then, on 3 different days of the week, I paste 2 back into the forum. I don't go back anymore to see if somebody commented on my comment, or if the Instr asked me a direct question. I found that really nobody was "participating" as much a few of us, yet we all still make it through. These days, I simply use all those hundreds of posts as potential material, go in and grab 6, find something to say, and then doll them back out on spaced days
I did the same thing. If the topic was a hot one, I read more but for the most part I read only those who posted under mine. I did check in everyday and scroll through to see if any announcements came in that I needed to know.
I also did what Prism does. Put the view into linear and scroll down to clear the forum.
The draft feature used too be handy. I would post multiple responses and save them on the forum. On a particular day all I did was click submit and be done. However gcu changed that feature to where it only lets you submit within a 24 hr time frame.

At the end of the week I also switch to linear view to clear out the unread messages. In my current class (ethics for a few more hours) I have been going bonkers because it says there are unread messages even though there aren't. My guess is these "unread" messages are the drafts that haven't been posted after 24 hours.
I even contacted tech support because it was driving me crazy, but they didn't have a solution.
Has anyone else started to experience this?

Yes I have noticed this from the beginning. I couldn't find the unread posts so I just told the OCD voices in my head to keep it down, I need to study. I now just ignore them....
