Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Still! This morning too....smh! It does not help that I am in week 2 and working on week 4s assignment, I thought I had a perfect article this morning, was over the moon until....it's the same article I used for week 2s assignment :banghead:. So glad I still like the article though (what a goof!).

Rob I double dare you to put PrismRNs slide in there! You think the ride is bumpy on the way to the canyon, you might get some donkey bucking fun that day! :lol2: :cheeky:

If I was in a better mood I would do this. I have such a headache today, had a 3+ hour surgical recovery of a extremely tough patient today. Popping ibuprofen and tequila..... Just not in the mood.

In nursing school I did something like this for every paper and care plan after the first year. I would always add something like "Mrs. (BlahBlah) is the best instructor in the world." I never once had anyone say anything.

I need to be doing research and I am web surfing! I need to stop! I'm putting myself on time out, now! BTW did anyone read the article recently that says time out really doesn't work. LOLOLOL :lol2:

I think it works for me sometimes. Refills my "I give a crap tank" when nearing empty.:woot:

I would surf when falling asleep or hitting a wall. I also had headphones and Pandora blasting away. When really.needing a pick me up I listened to classic rock. ;)

WinterWhite, I am at the end of week one research and just starting to look for articles for lit review. Assignment seems easy enough but procrastination is my middle name. I just worked 2 in a row, off today but work the next 2 so, gotta get er done today!

I have a coworker whose advisor is telling her that she can test out of 2 classes and reducing the amount of classes needed to 10 instead of 12. My advisor says you have to have a minimum of 12 classes with GCU. Does anyone know if you can potentially take fewer than the 12 core classes?

kwmom, please ask your coworker to get all the details on this and let us know, because this has been the subject of much confusion around these parts. Some people have said they only need 10, but then there's additional classes (that they can choose from a list) to make up the extra credits needed. Then the extra credits tend to be an area of confusion because some folks have said they've been told they only need 30 for a BSN, some have said 36 (thus, the 6 credit difference between 10 and 12 classes). Then, there are folks who are doing 11...

I'm sure it has something to do with what classes you have under your belt from ADN and how those classes may translate over in the transcript, but it would be nice to know the real deal for once. It does seem that different people are told different things, I'd like to get to the bottom of it. And hopefully I won't get too irritated if/when I find out that I was told incorrectly early on and I, too, could have "tested out" of something. Don't get me wrong, the core-12 are not bad, but hey, 5 weeks is 5 weeks, and $1500-ish is $1500-ish!

I saw my coworker this morning and she plans on trying to get clarification next week and I plan to call my advisor as well. She was told it costs about $80-$100 to test out but saving 5 weeks and $1500 is a great trade off! After I told her what my advisor said she again tried to clarify with her advisor and her advisor said that possibly her friend (me) didn't transfer in 84 credit hours. But I did with plenty of credit hours left over and she transferred in 84 as well. So we have similar situations being told differently as to the testing out question.

Me too re: the 84. I just looked at my original application, which states:

Total Degree Requirements: 120 credits

Open Elective Credits: 84 credits (transferred in)

Courses: 36 credits (to take), so at 3cr each, left me with the core 12.

Too late for me, but whatever you learn may help the newbies ;)

I think it also depends on the class itself and credit hours your previous class was. I know my buddy had something close to trends, but gcu said No, so she had too take the gcu class.

That's what I was told. Twelve classes regardless.
