I thought it would be nice to have a 2009 Grad Thread we can share are joys, fears, stories (hippa permitting) Just to relieve the stress.
I am a 25 y.o. wife and mother of 3 girls ages 7,5 and 1. I have been in the medical field since 2001, but took all Allied health classes in high school. I am in my first of four semesters, doing the evening program, lasting 15 months.
Right now I am not really doing any core nursing classes, just A&P, nutrition and nurs 110 which is basically a 'history of nursing' class.
I was a paramedic, I have a degree in medical office management and STNA. I have taken the long route into nursing but finally feel I have found the right path. I graduate in July of 2009 and plan on entering ADN in Aug of 2009.
Come join me!!
What a great idea for a thread. I am a 35 year old mother of four. Just started my program a little over a month ago and will finish in September. My youngest child is 12, so thankfully they are big enough to give me space when needed. I've been to college and university before too, but for finance, so this nursing stuff is totally new to me, but am loving it so far. Looking forward to geting to know y'all!
I just started my program August 2008 and will graduate August 2009. It's alot of work but it's fun, too. There's only 17 people in my class, so everyone has gotten to know and like each other pretty well. I look forward to going to school everyday on this little journey to becoming a nurse.:heartbeat
Hey all!
I started our PN program in April, 2008 and graduate in April, 2009. We just started our third term and it does get harder as time goes on.
I am a mom of two, 19 and 12 and also a medical assistant at the county jail. So I get to practice ALL of my skills while at work. (I have a wonderful DON who loves to teach).
I have to admit it is a challenge being in school Mon-Fri and working Fri-Sun for a full year, but it will all be worth it in the end!
Rock on fellow students!:typing

I just finished my first semester--med/surg, med. admin., foundations, and clinicals. For those of you who will be just starting out....hold onto your hat! But if I can do it.....I believe you can too. I was even able to maintain my 4.00! You will lose your social life, and will eat, sleep and study! But it's worth it!

I'm a 34yo single mom of 3 kids, son 16 and daughters 12 and 11. I have wanted to be a nurse my entire life. I started class Sept 22 and will graduate Sept 11, 2009. I plan on doing the advanced track LPN to RN. Graduates from the program I'm in have a high success rate with that. The program has a 98% success rate on passing state boards. Let's keep each other going, keep our chins up, and confidence even higher.
