Six Years, 2 Attempts, Third Times The Charm At Carson-Newman?
Hello fellow nurses! I have had several false starts beginning NP programs over the past six years. It is not that I can't do these programs, but I get discouraged once I see how daunting it is obtaining preceptors for the clinical courses and I drop out. This (and hopefully last) time around, I have chosen to attend Carson-Newman University's post-Master's FNP program because they have specifically stated during the application process that they find preceptors for their students with the exception of 32 hours for the first course, Advanced Health Assessment. I am planning to use a preceptor finding service to provide someone for these hours. I start Fall 2021, which begins in a couple of weeks (mid-August 2021). My orientation webinar is this Thursday! Anyone else starting at Carson-Newman in the MSN or post-MSN FNP program next month?

Age vs Years Nursing
WOW!! Many years of vast experience and knowledge here! As for me, I have a mere near-11 years in nursing....over 4.5 years as an LPN and almost 6 years as an RN. I'll be 36 in June.

Herzing University Post-Master's FNP Take Two!
These classes are accelerated, so stay on top of weekly discussion posts, both initial posts and responses to classmates. There is a lot of paper-writing in these classes, which is to be expected in a master's or post-master's program. There are quizzes and other projects as well. There was no group work in either of my classes, which I just finished 4/22. Time management is key. You can work full-time and do well in your classes; I work full-time and earned A's in both classes. Balancing the two is very manageable. I hope I'll be saying the same thing once clinicals start next month!

Herzing University Post-Master's FNP Take Two!
Hi SleykRN, sorry for the very late response. Admission is pretty easy; all you need to do is submit official transcripts, resume, RN license, and drug test. Cost I believe is around $850 per credit. Classes are 8 weeks long. Clinicals are 135 hours per rotation; there are 5 rotations in the program. Requirements to graduate are unique to you based on prior credits transferred over. Hope this helps!

Herzing University Post-Master's FNP Take Two!
Hey everyone! So about two years ago, I posted that I had started the post-master's FNP program at Herzing. Well, one week into the program, I got cold feet and withdrew. Fast forward to three weeks ago. I have restarted the post-master's FNP program at Herzing and so far, it has been great! I am taking two eight week classes and had my pathophysiology class from my master's degree transferred in. These classes are fast-paced, but doable! I have one more didactic class to take in the Summer, then all that's left after that are my clinicals! The first clinical begins in May! I'm so nervous about it even though it is seven weeks away! If all goes well, I should graduate August of 2021! This time, I'm determine to complete this program and pass my certification exam the first time (though I'm not sure which exam I will take--leaning toward the ANCC, though:) Any else currently attending or plan on attending Herzing?

Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations
Hi all, I'm a May 2014 RN graduate of ANHO. If any aspiring students have any specific questions, feel free to ask!

Academy for Nursing & Health Occupations (ANHO)
Sorry, I'm late with a response, I've been busy over the past year since I've posted on this thread! I know that since I graduated ANHO back in May 2014, many things have changed. We used ATI back then; I believe now, they use the HESI. We had a series of end of program exams collectively called 'Integration'; I believe now they have the Hesi end of program exams in its place. My LPN to RN bridge program was one year--now I believe it's two years. Yes, I did work throughout the program 30-35 hours a week as an LPN doing private duty pediatric shift work. Yes, I felt very prepared for NCLEX--not because ANHO prepared me, but because I studied my tail off for it on my own using NCLEX prep books. I guess it worked, I passed on the first try with 75 questions:). Finally, would I recommend the school to anyone else? If you are self-motivated, driven to succeed, can teach yourself the material, then yes, I would recommend it. However, if you need constant clarification of the material, have a hard time grasping a lot of new concepts at one time, or expect tutoring on difficult subjects from the instructors, then perhaps a different school might be a better fit for you. ANHO expects its students to hit the ground running from day one; to not do this will cause you to fall behind quickly and once this happens it is VERY difficult to catch up. Hopes this answers your questions!

Post Masters FNP after WGU
I applied to several post-master's NP programs and got accepted to every one. The school I decided to attend is Herzing University. I chose this program because the didactic portion is online (clinicals are obviously completed in person with a preceptor), I only had 4 didactic courses to complete, and I can finish the entire program in 16 months. I know there are some nay-sayers about this school, but I chose the program that best fit my lifestyle and schedule. The school is regionally/CCNE accredited (I did my research to make sure of this). This met all of my criteria that I look for in a school. Hope this answers your question!

Herzing University - FNP
I started May 7 as well with Herzing. I am doing a post-master's FNP--only 16 months. Can't beat that! There are only 4 didactic classes that I have to take (I am doing those first), then only clinicals after that. The only downside is that I do think the program is a bit pricey, but besides that, I like everything so far. Hope your first day was equally as good!

Post Masters FNP after WGU
I'm a WGU alum and just started a post-master's FNP program yesterday. Only my advanced health assessment class transferred. I'm currently taking an accelerated advanced pharm course (8 weeks---yikes!) and a health promotion class. Only 4 didactic classes total, so not too bad.

Woo, hoo!!! Another New MSN in Education Graduate!!!
Well, for me, it was lot of things. First, I had trouble finding a preceptor that would guide me through the implementation of the project. Then, I had trouble with task 1 of the field experience , which was kind of like a plan or outline of what the project would be about and how it would be implemented. All these difficulties caused me to withdraw in October 2016. Had I not withdrawn, I would have finished the whole program in about 3.5 months. Now the field experience/capstone has been revised, I believe, so you will have a different version of it then I had.

Woo, hoo!!! Another New MSN in Education Graduate!!!
The title of my capstone was Empowering Nurses to Obtain A BSN, in which I make the case that all staff nurses at the hospital where I performed my project would have better outcomes if all of their staff nurses had a baccalaureate at minimum.
