I have a 3.6 or so and I'm worried that, that won't be enough to get into the program. Can you guys give me your opinion or what where your score and if they got you in.

Different programs have different requirements and different criteria on which they judge. Some look at GPA only, some GPA and test scores, some care more about GPA and extracurricular activities including volunteer and work experience. A 3.6 is a solid GPA but with out knowing what program you are interested in and what that particular program looks for in their applicants it is impossible to say what your chances are of getting in.

Are you applying to Yale? A 3.6GPA is a good GPA. However there is more to the application process. Because the question is so general all I can say is talk with the specific school you want to apply to and ask about applying and required GPA standards. Schools vary widely and certain schools need other things like volunteer experience, groups and clubs you participated in during HS etc. You need to talk with the school and get specifics. Many people with good GPAs complain when they don't get in because "I knew someone with a lowe GPA who got in"...and they forget there is more to it.

Depends on the program and the criteria used when your record is evaluated. Some programs turn away people with 4.0 GPAs, and others use much lower standards. We can not speak for the program(s) you are interested in. You might want to meet with a program advisor to see where you stand.
Sorry it's the fiu nursing program I forgot to add that

Programs do look at your overall and prereq GPAs. Sometimes some programs may ask you to take an entrance exam.

I was accepted into an ADN program (starting next month) with a 3.65 program GPA, and a good score on the TEAS entrance exam. My overall GPA is a little higher, but they don't look at that for acceptance into the nursing program.

PPs are providing excellent advice. There is an additional factor to consider - the qualifications of everyone else in your application cohort. You may get lucky, with a GPA that is in the higher tier of applicants or you may be pushed waaay down on the list because a lot of high-achievers are applying at the same time. It's a moving target that will also be affected by your score on the entrance exam.
Best of luck to you!

Our opinions? They don't mean much, honestly.
If your GPA is higher than many others, AND everything else is competitive as well, then you'd get in. If your GPA is the same as others, and everything is is NOT competitive, then you might not get in. And finally, if your GPA is lower than others.....etc etc etc......there you go.
Some schools will waitlist an applicant with a 4.0 because they have filled the class with 4.0's and there are too many applying. Others have classes with 'eh' applicants because that's what the school attracted at that time. Not all schools, like not all applicants, are created equal.
"It Depends" is your official answer :)

I completely agree with pp. It really depends on your school. My school is impacted and therefore extremely competitive and a 3.6 would not get you into the program. Good luck!

Totally depends on your school. I live in northeast PA and it's nowhere near as competitive here. Despite the amount of applications that come in people have been accepted into our schools program with a 3.2 GPA. They also take into consideration the PAX entrance exam scores.

Yes it depends. Right now I have a cumulative transferable GPA of 3.94 but even thought that's pretty high, schools also look at teas test, if you have volunteer hours, if you live around the area, or if you have experience in the field(cna, emt, etc.) You should look into the schools you want and see which one would be the easiest to get into.
