I have a 4.0 in all prereqs for BSN programs in my area and a 3.8 overall (I failed a gym class because there was a project I forgot about despite my lifting weights daily!) I did two years of prereqs for a BSN program but am going into an ADN program instead since I can not afford the private BSN school I got into. I am also a CNA which is required for the ADN program I am going to although it was not needed for the BSN program I wanted to go to. I think there is someone in my program who has a 3.7? in prereqs but some schools I applied to did not accept me with my great grades so it really depends on which school you want and who else is trying to get in that year!

2.96 - going to a large state university...
funny thing is I didn't think I'd get accepted (I got wait listed for spring grades because I took Micro and Physiology) - there was a guy that transferred from a different college with a 3.8 and he got turned down - so I figured I'd NEVER get in...got an A- in Micro and a B- in Physiology and I got in...it is also the school I graduated from in 1996 so that may have had a larger influence than my overall...

Hypothetical situation: You have determined from previous info that your present record does not make you competitive, so you do not want to apply. One month prior to the application deadline, the admissions honchos at the school change the rules of the game, making you not only eligible, but highly desired, a shoo-in. If you have applied, they have your application. If you did not apply, you miss the deadline because you did not find out about the new rules in time. Stranger things have happened. Something along these lines occurred at one of the schools I attended. I suggest that you apply because you never know.
I was always going to apply because you have to be in it to win it, and plus its free. I now go in this with confidence. I love this site you guys are so supportive

Going into nursing school....2.54
I don't think mine was much better. I think around 2.7 something. I didn't really care or was I focused in my pre reqs, I did better in nursing school then my pre reqs amazingly.
Something along these lines really did happen and it was a one time shot, so I feel very strongly about my advice!

Currently my GPA is a 3.5 after completing A&P 1&2, Chem, Growth and Development, Microbiology, Eng Comp 1&2, Gen Psych, Constitutional Law, Algebra, and my first year of the LPN program. I might be leaving a couple of classes out, not sure. I know I am capable of a lot better, but I don't have the time or energy to dedicate to studying like I should. I'm certainly not complaining about my GPA, I just hope it is good enough when the time comes to start applying to LPN-RN bridge programs.
Forgot to mention, I go to a community college and have exactly 50 credits.
