My cumulative GPA was only a 2.3 (slacked off a wee bit in my first bachelors degree), but my last 40 hours were a 4.0 and I had a 4.0 in my prerequisites. I got a 98% on the Hesi A2. I went the community college route because I couldn't afford to not work full-time, the tuition was super cheap, and the program is modeled after the local BSN programs with many of the instructors teaching at both using the same tests, books, and notes. Several schools in my area will let me direct enter into a MSN program since I have a non-nursing bachelors so that is my plan of attack :). Luckily I have gotten all As in nursing school so far so boost that GPA!

3.58 was my nursing pre-req GPA when I applied to nursing school. Since starting, I've gotten mostly B's and a few A's.

4.0 and it was pretty much required at my CC. Their application points system just gives points for grades in specific courses you took to put you on an acceptance list for the nursing program (ADN). The amount of applicants combined with their application points decides what GPA cutoff they use for that year. This year most of us have 4.0 because it seems everyone and their mother applied to the program...
By the way, isn't this OP the same one that asked about IQ and nursing school earlier? I could be mistaken but this seems very similar to that...

My pre-req GPA that I got in with was a 3.7 and after 2 semesters of nursing school its hanging in there at a 3.6 :redpinkhe Go for it, whats the worst that can happen? If you don't get in then you can easily bring your GPA up since you ahve such few credits its much easier! Good Luck!
I forgot to add I'm at a University
Thanks guys o man I really hope I get in I can't afford private school

i already had a BA degree in another field when I entered nursing school (which is at a community college). They didn't take those grades into consideration for my GPA but they did include all the pre-req classes I took at the CC prior to getting accepted. I had a 3.8 GPA, after my first semester of nursing school it's now a 3.73.
Here they give quality points based on the pre-req classes, so the ones I had carried over from my BA were counted. They take the grades you got on the pre-reqs, assign it a number and you basically get accepted just on the numbers alone.
Micro - A- (missed getting an "A" by literally 1/10th of a point!!)
Human Anatomy - B+
Human Physiology - A
English 101 - was waived because of a class I took while getting my BA
Stats - A (not a pre-req but a math class is now a co-req. I choose stats, even though we're allowed to take an "easier" math because I knew it'd be necessarily for a higher degree)
Psych 101 - A
Developmental Psych - A
Soc 101 - A (this was a class that carried over from my BA degree)

I also had a previous degree. My GPA from that degree was 3.2, but the pre-reqs I did just before entering school were 4.0
i guess unless you have a 4.0 or close to it your not getting in NS school
inthere
My gpa before nursing school was 3.67....but do not put to much stock in ga. Three students in my class had gpa's ranging from 3.80 -4.00 and they failed first semester twice. Its all about what you do and how you study once you get there. Keep up with the reading if that's how you best learn and just study, study, study. Don't worry about those who don't seem to study as much as you, some people are just lucky like that: )
