I just received info from my unit today that we have a mandatory drill this weekend and I do not have all of my uniforms and whatever else is needed and i was told that my unit is in mobilization phase and that theres a PT inspection of some sort. im freaking out because i just got commissioned, no way near reaching minimum PT standards for my ht/wt reqs, dont have all uniform items ready (nearest base pX didnt have everything available), etc. im scared and very nervous right now.

i first got in touch with my unit today. and found out about the drill this weekend. i just got my orders frm unit 2 days ago. everything is happening very fast

Dont worry about it, the unit will understand & I believe you have 90 days before you have to take a PT test for record. The unit can make you take a diagnostic PT test to see where you are at. Also, you can not be mobilized until you complete OBLC. Army Reserve units go thru a 5 year cycle with the 5th year being its mobilization year. Just because a unit is in its mobilization window does not mean it will be mobilized, it just means they have to be ready.

Dress nice. Be prepared to possibly fill out paperwork, write down any questions you have beforehand.

When were you expecting to start?
At what point were you planning to be within ht/wt and minimal PT standards?
no to much sympathy here :)
That being said - Go bust your butt. Get stronger, drop some weight and good luck. Sounds like some upfront stress.. but you did great to get in and we wish you the best as you start off!!

Wow, my husband had to meet the physical standards BEFORE he was commissioned, and when he was in ROTC, damn near lost his scholarship and commission because he fell behind on them for ONE semester.
You know, going into the military isn't summer camp. You knew that. People will understand uniform supply issues, those happen all the time. But the PT thing? Sorry, get with it and get yourself squared away. It's not fair to others who have to meet the standard, and trust me, you will be resented if you don't meet the same standard.

You have 90 days to complete a record pt test. don't stress yourself, your unit will understand the whole uniform situation. You need to start working on the height/weight portion as soon as possible and if you are over it you will be taped. Depending on the outcome of your tape it may or may not be an issue later on down the road but no they are not going to kick you out your first drill so calm down :-)

Cut your carbohydrate intake down, eat protein bars for meals. Eat vegetables and lean meats for dinner. Don't drink alcohol, no soda, no sweets. Take a daily multivitamin. Eat under your daily requirements for caloric intake.
Run everyother day. If your abet of gym get a trainer, if not find a gym to train and get a trainer. If you do t like gyms google p90x, buy a copy and work it.
If you do his you will lose weight.
Keep your head up and don't ever give up.

dropped 70lbs replacing a meal with protein bars and 10min mile to 7min.
