Hi great nurses in the House. I am proud to be called a Nurse because we are in-charge, we save life, in other words i can say we are soul keeper or soul savers but i taught on some questions,
1. Am i so professional that i got lives saved?
2. what happens when lost a responding patient?
3. what happens when the miraculous happens?
I began Thinking on this few questions and at last i got the Answer that great nurses are made by God. And i can boldly say GOD IN THE NURSE IS ALL THE DIFFERENCE
Whats your view on this?
I will say it again - I have seen no hostility nor maltreatment of Christians on this thread. We will have to agree to disagree. But I will leave you with this - I cannot safely allow my children to express their religion out of our house. Can you? I bet you can. Go on, tell me about your "persecution" while my children are forced to participate in religious pageantry not their own in school, and we cannot speak against it for fear of retaliation.
It's the innerwebs, not a lion's den.
I feel sad for this new nurse who simply wanted to express her joy at being a nurse and her faith in God helping her as she was attacked instead by many people for having the nerve to speak of God! Yes she is foreign and English appears to be a second language where her grammar isn't the best, but she simply wanted to share her enthusiasm with fellow nurses. Truthfully her post is a refreshingly positive one, instead of the negativity and frustration many of us voice which I'm among the top. I think the burnout post is relevant for a lot of us, but that is another topic
It is true we do save lives and therefore save people souls. Most people probably don't think that deeply about it. Some of us actually pray for our patients, ourselves and our coworkers. Some religions even have prayers that may be prayed for the dying. This is something that is usually done privately. Perhaps its more open in a Christian or Jewish hospital than the many secular ones. When I hear a code called, I say a prayer for that person silently and I'm sure many others do likewise.
It may surprise some but the church I go to has weekly prayer petitions that pray for the sick, elderly, homebond, hospitalized or in care facilities and then prays for all people concerned with the health, safety, and well being of the community including the military. There are many different petitions every week, but these are standard. Personally I think we can use all the prayer ie blessings we can get. Life isn't easy! Our job isn't easy either!
Some people don't believe in God because of the evil in the world and the mystery of why bad things happen to good people. It is a mystery that I don't have the answer to, but do believe there is a purpose to life, even when we don't know what it is.
I don't worry about anyone's religion or faith, that is a private matter. I don't judge anyone on anything but their individual personalities and abilities. We work together as a team and we should be open to everyone's abilities, talents, and respectful of our differences to help each other do our jobs. Nursing takes a team effort to do a good job!
Persecution: hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of race or political or religious beliefs. It was displayed and it still is. And I have never had a whiny victim mindset.
I've treated/cared for many political and religious refugees. People who've been subjected to unimaginable things because of their beliefs. Because of their beliefs they've actually had their freedom and human rights trampled on. They've lived in constant fear for their safety and their lives. Many have missing limbs, permanent disability, scarred bodies and profoundly scarred psyches due to evils inflicted on them by their fellow man.
I do believe that it using the word persecution to describe people disagreeing with each other on an online forum greatly devalues/diminishes the experiences these people have. I don't think it's an appropriate use of the word, there's not any persecution taking place in this thread. I do believe that calling disagreement persecution is inaccurate.

I noticed that you've chosen to not reply to my query about the hostility you claim is in this thread. Now you say that people are attacking OP, but you don't identify the alleged attackers. If you are going to make a claim like this, I wish that you would spell out who you're addressing, that way a person has a chance to respond to you.
I don't think that OP is being attacked, and most certainly not for having the nerve to speak of God. OP specifically asked for opinions, his exact words were "whats your view on this?" and in the "Prayer in the workforce" thread he asked "Agreed?". People are sharing their views, some agree with OP and others don't.
There are many threads on this forum where people mention God, without it causing much of a ruckus or generating any dissenting posts at all. The reason this thread is different is because it contains the divisive statement that a group of nurses are best, based solely on religious beliefs. A statement like that implies an us versus them mentality and it's no wonder that it generates many responses and perhaps raises a few hackles.
OP may not have intended his/her message this way, which I pointed out in my first reply, but surely you can see that it's not the mentioning of God per se that has generated numerous replies?
WOW...After three days of analysis, comments and critical Thinking on this topic. 40% agree its God, 60% agree its ability, commitment and great research...
Just one more question to Ask.
If you say its ability, commitment, research and (mention it). Then who owns all the Abilities, Loves, Skill, Your Strength, potential and the rest that make you claim you are better without the God factor Him ?
Because you Don't Believe its GOD, does not mean you are not using His gifts.
Remember The gift of GOD is without Repentance!!!
So if You Still Not Believe Its God Then Force Fully Return back His Grace.
Have you really read all of the replies? I think it's clear you have not. An open-minded discussion is not something you seem eager to engage in, rather you feel your beliefs are everyone's, some just aren't willing to accept it.

Well, hi there OP
Interesting stats you've come up with. I actually didn't mention what defines a good nurse, only that I don't think it's accurate to say that one group based on faith alone,
is the best.
When one nurse can find that their faith is what helps them become the best nurse they can be, another nurse might feel that's it dedication to keeping up with continuing education in the relevant fields and a third nurse might feel that achieving harmony/balance in life through healthy foods and exercise and spending time with family/friends is what works best for him/her. Most often it's probably a combination of things.

To be honest with you I've never thought about any of my character traits or the emotions I have, to be owned by anybody. They are just who I am. I think that they're the result of nature/genes, nurture and the sum of my experiences and the choices I make.
I don't think that anyone has claimed that they're better nurses without the "God factor", just that one isn't automatically "the best" nurse based on the "factor" alone.
Because you Don't Believe its GOD, does not mean you are not using His gifts.Remember The gift of GOD is without Repentance!!!

If I still don't believe it's God? I haven't changed my beliefs in the past two days.
I'm happy and at peace with my beliefs, just as you seem to be with yours.
I'm not attempting to persuade you to abandon your beliefs, I expect to be shown the same consideration.

I "own" my abilities, loves, skills, strength, potential, and all the rest of me -- that makes me "claim" I am better without the God factor?? Now who is forcing their beliefs on others??
And what is the last sentence supposed to mean? How do I "force fully return back his grace"? Because I "still" don't believe in your "god," and I will be glad to return any "grace" that I've gotten.
I have a feeling this is the next thread to suddenly have a padlock appear next to it.....
Anyway, wishing everyone a great day!

The description of the Nursing and Spirituality form states clearly:
I interpreted the OP as stating that her God makes her a better nurse. She did not say that people who do not believe in God are not good nurses. Christians actually believe that God makes all people and all nurses....good and bad alike. Christians are not perfect. Neither are non-Christians. Good nurses come from all religions, cultures, races, etc.
This is an appropriate thread for this forum.
