After the last test was given, 911 was called and she gave birth on the way to the hospital. Funny thing is, she and all of us passed our tests, talk about teamwork!!!!!

LOL! Teamwork...that's a great story! I bet all the extra oxygen you all got from breathing right along with her also helped you all on your tests...LOL!

Man, what kind of people get their kicks this way? That is definitely psycho, I don't even see how that would be a fun way to mess with someone. Weird....

Nice that you put yourself out there to try and help, but the only thing she was trying to give birth to was an urban legend.
I'm no expert in OB certainly, but from what I have seen of ones demeanor while in labor...............well let's just say they don't seem to be able to hold a conversation. Typing one would seem impossible.

I looked to see if I could find this story on the Urban Legends internet site and couldn't. If you are ever wondering if a story is urban legend or not, take a look at snopes.com. Interesting to read!

Peeps, not everyone can't hold a conversation in labor. Occasionally you get a person who is in excellent control..THOSE are the ones that scare me..At least with someone writhing around and writing new swears, I tend to KNOW where she's at with regard to labor! Give me a screamer every time!

First of all, Annagray was not "had", Anna just acted compassionately to help someone who seemed to really need someones help. However, I do think this can be a learning experience for Anna and the rest of us who have not encountered this type thing online, because since we are either currently RNs or wanna be nurses, we do have potential liability, therefore the absolute best thing to do in this type situation is to tell the person to call 911 stat and/or if they are not able to call, have them give you their phone # and address and tell them you will call 911 to go to their home immediately. I am sure we all want to help as much as possible but we cannot at the cost of our futures. But Anna, kudos to you for trying and helping. You are a very sweet and kind person...

we do have potential liability,
There is no liability involved in not helping a woman give birth in a chat room.
I agree that it is always the right choice to help even if you think you might see trouble from it later. An argument could be made using a ruling on a good samaritan law's application after all.
However..............
Scumbag lawyers are a most resilient lot. This person may even be one.
We will choose to be kind first.
Criminals will choose how to manipulate the kindness of others as their fist reflexive thought.
Those who are kind people, will always err on its side regardless of the outcome. Anagray, I always want to err on the same side.
I was just truing to imagine the court dockett!
